I'm fairly certain the v1 instructions largely apply, although I am curious about the USB port; is it for downloading logs, updating firmware, or both? Unfortunately the forum is currently down @ TwistedRotors.

^ Well, I just parked my 8 for the winter, so there's not a huge hurry. But I'm curious to see it work, and kinda expect a line to form as soon as MRC locals and the Windsor contingent find out I've got one.

Instructions gathered together earlier in the thread : https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...9&postcount=46

EDIT : I'm gonna try to do a test after work tomorrow if I can get around to the ESS in the dark.

Those are the instructions for Version one........I was hoping for V2 instruction so I understand the computer hook up..................Maybe there was something I missed in his forum.

TR-01 results on 28,500 mile 2006 engine

Yep! Spent the afternoon playing with it. I bought this car with 8,800 miles on the clock June 2009. It's never been driven during winter, but only been parked for about a week this time. The PIA factor is getting access to the eccentric shaft position sensor which pretty much requires pulling the airbox out, as well as pulling the left front wheel to reach the spark plugs easily. Otherwise, all straightforward. I did one measurement dead cold, then warmed the engine and repeated. Partway through, I hooked up a 10A charger which improved the rpm (I'm using a smaller than stock battery). I also learned toward the end, it's best to crank for a full 10 seconds which seems to make some difference on the front rotor readings.

Raw Data (pressures in PSI):

OBDII = 50 deg F
Front: 103 98 95 @ 228 rpm
Rear: 101 103 104 @ 232 rpm
178 F
Front: 102 99 91 @ 235 rpm
104 100 88 @ 235 rpm
108 104 103 @ 275 rpm
155 F
Rear: 113 109 111 @ 279 rpm
112 109 111 @ 279 rpm
113 114 110 @ 287 rpm
145 F
Front: 106 112 108 @ 293 rpm

TR-01 v2.0 corrected figures

The above data were corrected to a reference 250 rpm using http://www.foxed.ca/index.php?page=rotarycalc

Corrected Data (pressures in PSI):

OBDII = 50 deg F
Front: 111 105 102
Rear: 108 110 111

178 F
Front: 108 105 107
114 109 96
104 100 99

155 F
Rear: 108 104 106
107 104 106
106 107 103

145 F
Front: 98 104 100

I'm not exactly delirious with joy over these numbers. It would be interesting to have the dealer do an official test for comparison, but that's not gonna happen for many months. I'll certainly do another check at the end of next season for comparison.

Well, my car is parked for the winter so I won't be able to get in line unless you go south of the border. Maybe I can lure you to Windsor with your handy new product. I sometimes wonder how my build is holding up. My 8 is my only car (out of 4) to still have it's original motor in it. Go figure.

Raw values :
Front : 107, 102, 99 @ 295 rpm
Rear : 108, 108, 105 @ 301 rpm

Normalized to 250 rpm :
Front : 100.40, 95.71, 92.89 @ 250 rpm
Rear : 100.06, 100.06, 97.28 @ 250 rpm

Meh. Technically out of spec, and I haven't really had any problems ( @ 89k miles ). I suspect with this close of values that trying to get a warranty replacement might be a challenge at this point. It's a little annoying actually knowing, now that I realize it.

On a side note, I forgot to reset the ESS before first firing it up, and got a p0335 code; does this clear by itself?
