I want one!! You still have them for sale? I'll email the waiver form and once I hear back from you, I'll send payment thru paypal.

Rotary Rasp 04-07-2008 02:41 AM

yes, i still have them

raizen82 04-07-2008 02:59 AM

ok, i looked over at my connection and it seems there was no problem in the crimp/splice. so, i made sure and took out the plastic covering and just connected the wires if it would work... nothing. can't think of any reason it would stop working suddenly... any way i can repair this RR?

I don't know what to say.

How long did it work for?

If you can't get it to work, I'll replace it.

ABSOLUTELY! RR has no equal when it comes to his Group Buys. Both in product and service.

BoosTED 04-07-2008 12:52 PM

Just received mine, going to install in a few minutes. :)

BoosTED 04-07-2008 01:43 PM

Installed, works good.

Side note: make sure and use the bolt that is shown for the ground in the install.

If you use the screw that the sunroof is grounded by the mod is noticably less responsive. ;)

I switched the ground point for my V1 away from that ground as well.

Yea, It might help if you take a picture. Just to make sure everything is connected correctly.

I find it odd that it worked for a while. Exactly how long did it work for? Did it work correctly.

I test every unit 3 different times while building it. Then, I test it a 4th time before shipping. Thats not to say that it's not defective. Just like almost all electronics, the integrated circuit inside is static sensitive and should be handled with care. The rubber cover is designed thick enough to protect the circuit from most things.

Like I mentioned above, I'll gladly replace for you. But lets see a picture first so we can make sure it's not the wiring.

Yea, the screw that the sunroof uses as a ground has an unusually high resistance.

raizen82 04-07-2008 02:44 PM

well, it worked perfectly for a day and then after that i noticed it wouldn't close with one-touch anymore. here's the pic.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...8/DSC00711.jpg

and then the black (ground?) wire attached to the bolt in the car where the maplight assembly goes to.

Rotary Rasp 04-07-2008 02:58 PM

Wow, the colors are sooo far off on your camera..... lol

Well, that looks right. The red wire is making contact to the orange fine?

Shoot me a PM with your address again.

raizen82 04-07-2008 05:41 PM

sorry. phone cam and it was dark, used the "flash" (more of a white LED flashlight >_>) from it hehe. yup, seems the crimp was fine. at first i was afraid i crimped it too hard that i might have cut through the wire. i ripped the plastic encasing of the wiretap and looked at the contact points and they were ok. will test it again and try soldering.

laythor 04-07-2008 06:31 PM

is it too soon to start pestering rodger about what his next goodie for us will be? LOL

That might be pretty pricey, but what the heck add me to that list also if this is done.

How about automatic headlights for your next project, or you could just do the clear corner GB and I would be all over that.

Has anyone lost their hand or head to the guillotine yet?

Not yet, but keep an eye on raizen82. (I kid, I kid)
I'm wondering with all the playing around he had to do with the wire clip, if the orange wire was cut in more than one place and now it's all the way through in one spot and therefore can't make connection to the other side(the red). Of course if he had a meter it would take about 2mS to see, but we can't help much from afar.

BoosTED 04-08-2008 12:07 AM

My hand might be sore tomorrow.

I had to check how much pressure the sunroof applies when closing. Twice.

I don't recommend hitting the button with your neck in there!

It does not reverse it just stops after it squishes the crap out of whatever is in between. ;)

lol i actually tested it twice, same as 4 years. anything that gets stuck there IS going to be SORE. and i have a multimeter! how do i test for continuity?

Rotary Rasp 04-08-2008 03:01 AM

Don't even bother. If you tried soldering the orange and red wires together and it still didn't work, then its defective. I'm going to ship you a new one. When you get it, just package the broken one up and ship it back to me. Send me you're address.
