No power when module is connected

I just got my module in the mail yesterday and put it on a few minutes ago. I connected the module as instructed to the proper wires and screws, but the sunroof switch is dead with the power wire connected to the screw on the map light assembly circuit board. This is the screw closest to the blue wire. When I disconnect it, the sunroof switch works fine, but when I connect it nothing happens. My guess is that the module is the problem, but I am open to suggestions. Help! My map light assembly is dangling in my car until I find out whether I need to uninstall this module, reconnect something, or ??

ew, i've had about 5 people with your same problem. A few of the 555 timers I used we're made by a different company and can't handle the load of the sunroof. I've made a slight modification that will fix this problem. I'll send you a replacement this weekend.

For those who already have it installed, don't worry. If the module works for a day or so, you have the better 555 timer and you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry for the problems.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the prompt reply, and on your birthday no less! I appreciate you sending a replacement. I will put my map light assembly back together and wait for the new module. Sorry to bother you on your birthday.

Happens I blew the 7.5A fuse that this is hooked up to. I took the mod out for now to make sure it didn't blow again, and I wanted to check with you as to possible cause. Should I put it back in? Should I upgrade that fuse?

Sidenote: anyone else find it odd that the same fuse is used for sunroof controls, seatwarmers and HVAC but the maplights are on a diff fuse?
wheres that fuse?

mine worked fine at first. then it just stopped working. but my sunroof still works fine, just not the one touch close.

ehhh, dont sweat this stuff too much. you have a GREAT reputation here, and your education is MC more important than rushing a module out a few days sooner

Wink

RR,

Were you able to mail the new modules out on Friday? I understand the final exam situation. I had about 40 final exams to grade last week and will be mailing out the last of them this morning to my students.

RR,

I got mine yesterday (Friday) and just installed it. It works great! Thanks resolving this problem and getting out the replacements to all of us that were affected by the bad 555 timers. I appreciate your efforts and I assume the others do as well. Have a great weekend!

Dean
