(CLOSED) Au-to Bahn, RSW, Riverside

*** MOD EDIT *** GROUP BUY IS APPROVED BY OMICRON & BOOSTD 7, 7/15/04

Since there has been so much interest brewing, I decided to go ahead and get another group buy started for...

Au-to Bahn STRasse bodykit and accessories

RSW 3 Gauge Hood (I am waiting to hear back from RSW on the new design and pics)

Riverside TravelStar RTS wheels (as seen on the Au-to Bahn car)

Final things such as prices are still undecided as I am still in the midst of contacting the markers, however, we can go ahead and get a firm list of names. The more willing to purchase at one time the better my chances of getting a decent discount on the item. So let's get ready to rumble!!

Regarding STrasse bodykit and accessories. I'd prefer to order the bodykit as a whole kit, not individual pieces (just a bumper or just side skirts). If you need individual parts, try odave or JT Imports. Otherwise I was thinking the mufflers and mirrors in the "accessories" category.

Pics of this kit are here.

BIU. I will ask the maker when I call, but I doubt they know. I have contacted RSW, but no reponse...

You may not necessarily have to get the STrasse exhaust, but the stock is NG. The rear valence comes up higher to show off the pipework and because of that the ugly stock can will show. You need a polished, showy can (not Borla) because of this.

The bumper looks like it will cover the rebar. As this kit hasn't been fitted to a NA spec car, there is no real way to know. I'm sorry. BUt look at the lines and the opening... I believe that it comes down far enough to cover it. And if it doesn't... just paint the rebar black.

Good question Xero. THose prices posted are taken from Hyper REV... and like I said in the post... they should be used as a guide NOT a final price list. That being said... I haven't seen anyone specify that their price was for only one not the pair.

my point is not really whether the bumper will COVER the re-bar, it is whether or not the bumper will fit on the car without having to take off the re-bar.

I see. Buy and test fit is the only way I can see to obtain this answer. Sorry. The maker is small and hasn't sold any kits to the US according to what they told me. To be honest, I am having difficulty picturing how the rebar won't fit on a kit other than it doesn't "cover" it... given that the JDM model does have one... just smaller, thus the lack of a black "bar" in the opening of the MS bumper.

Here's a thought. If the bumper does "cover" the rebar, then shouldn't it fit? The apex of the curve of the front bumper will be at it's peak and unless the bumper is somehow significantly shorter than stock, then shouldn't it fit?

Well sometimes getting JDM bumpers for USDM cars is a problem because some of the bumpers wouldnt fit on the cars without taking off the bigger US rebar. If the JDM bumper covers the J-spec rebar it doesnt mean it will cover the US-spec rebar because it is much bigger and thicker.... get what i mean?

Another question..... so theres no way theyre making that in a urethane-like material?

Their price for the front bumper made in FRP is quite high compared to other companies have you noticed that? Even INGS is only 82500 yen i think....

... Which is kinda the explanation that I thought you'd give. Let's take the stock bumper... JDm or USDM it's the exact same.... right? So even if the USDM rebar is thicker it still fits within the diameter of the size of the stock front bumper. Thus it stands to reason that most bumpers should fit without a problem (things like INGS giant opening do pose an issue though).

However...

Don't take that to be a guarantee. It really is a "try it at your own risk."

I doubt the shop is interested in dealing with urethane. Like I said.. they are a small Osaka-based shop... in addition RMagic and RE Amemiya are major tuning shops and their kits are FRP. There may be a chance if you can make it worth it... like an order or 20 full kits or so.

Yeah the price isn't cheap, but I'd say it's still in the ballpark. 150,000 JPY for the MS bumper is crazy.

Wow Japan8 is so quick!

I have been talking to the owners as well, such wonderful people. The owner is actually a good friend of another CEO of an Osaka based company that I have been working with.

As I mentioned before, Japan8 if you have any need of shipping bodyparts to the states please let me know.

The FEED front bumper is 99,000 JPY (http://www.pac-gate.co.jp/feed/)... so this one is pretty decently priced.

Xero... I'll let you know. I'm still in the process of gathering info. so this GB won't close for a little while still. I might change my mind and take individual parts...depending on what demand is like.

News I spoke with Riverside today and they say that due to some licensing (?) issue, they are unable to directly sell/ship to the US. However... I can obtain them from a third party like a parts shop and then ship them to the US. I'll keep everyone posted on progress on this front.

What was the price on the 3 gauge hood again?

Also, I would suggest you list USD prices by the parts.

Thanks Japan8. I think this front is the best looking one of all the body kits I have seen.

Actually Omicron, I haven't posted the real prices yet. What I did was give the price list from the magazine... however the final price may be better or worse depending on several factors, one of which is volume.

The RSW Gauge hood was quoted to me at 21,000 JPY ($193.34 USD) for black FRP and 31,500 JPY ($290.00 USD) for CF. RSW had mentioned something about being interested in a group discount. HOWEVER... I emailed them the other day but haven't heard back from them yet. I'll keep you posted.

BTW... Omicron, did you get my email?

Unforunately nothing's final. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment...

- trying to work with doctors to resolve a medical condition I have
- finishing up the previous group buy on Rmagic 1Din dash panels
- working with a RX-8 club in the US and Mazda Japan about an event
- finding I have less time as I started a new job in late june that has made my commute rather long

... and there is the new group buy. So I know it's taking awhile, but please bear with me. My efforts thus far have gotten mixed results... some useful info and some... well things are more complicated than I originally anticipated.
