Service Report: Rosenthal Mazda Arlington

i have never been an advocate for rosenthal mazda because of the lousy experience i received from the tysons corner dealership. to make some of the valid arguments for this here are some items that i thought were plausible for the bad service:
- scratched my car during a routine car wash (service: they keep putting more and more wax on there each time i go back to tell them the marks are still apparent)
- purchased a fuel door and had the service/sales rep install it with me with socket wrench that he had, the entire fuel door area is scratched up. (service: went back to notify them to ask them to atleast re-adjust it or help me since i've spent days trying to fix it. they told me to take it to a bodyshop)
- i receive letters from mazda usa telling my my high-mileage service is due and supposedly i have 158,000 miles. i only have 7,600 or so as we speak. i asked rob, my service rep, he said his system shows the 7k figure.
- i received a recall letter and was informed to go in to change my spark plugs. the next day after driving it home it didn't start properly. went back and had my oil changed and the car stalled as i was taking it home after delivery. found out that their service did not install one of the spark plugs properly.

other than that tysons rosenthal, because of rob, was great .. but today i had my car taken in to install:
- side strakes
- mazdaspeed intake
- realign fuel door
- inspection
- clutch pedal squeeks insanely loud (compress/decompress)

shaun was the rep and he did a great job not only in keeping me informed but this is the first time i was ever offered a rental car in my entire history of owning the rx8. granted i just went right across the street to the mall and back home to take a nap, this was amazing and astonishing to me. i thought only HBL AUDI of tysons offered such a luxury.

shaun not only installed everything without dinging my car, but he informed me that the fuel door was warped at this point and needs to be replaced, he will put in a new fuel door that is on order sometime on wednesday, i will drop off the car for the day for him to fix the clutch pedal and the fuel door. i was amazingly surprised that shaun covered everything i ever had an issue with rosenthal. and he matched the online prices for the parts i purchased from him.

he is also very enthusiastic about the car itself and made me real comfortable with bringing the car into his shop for upgrades.

big thumbs up for shaun and making me turn a hard right in my thinking about rosenthal mazda. i only recommend going to the arlington branch though and definitely check out tommy or shaun.

thanks again shaun.

cliff notes: rosenthal mazda of tysons corner = teh sux.
rosenthal mazda of arlington = 5/5 stars, great service, real professional, real knowledgeable, and extremely helpful.

Just an FYI...

Rosenthal Mazda Tysons is not owned by Bob Rosenthal, who owns every other dealership bearing the Rosenthal name.

Tysons is a bastard all of their own. Shop there at your own risk.
