Scammed by xxmotox2 Issue resolved

A few months back I put a post on here about wanted a front bumper for my mom.

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/wtb-rx-8-front-bumper-grill-156629/

xxmotox2 responded stating that he had a bumper.

He gave me his phone number and I called him.

He gave a quote of $395 shipped for the bumper.

I then relayed the info to my mom and gave her his phone number.

She called him and they set up a paypal payment which took place on 11/24 for $395.

He then states a few days later that the shipping quote he recieved was incorrect and that he needs more money. She said "no". He then responded by apologizing about not sending the bumper and he will send the bumper.

It is now christmas I am sitting here pissed off because this low life scammer screwed my mom over on her christmas present.

If anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.

There is a paypal claim out right now on this matter and hopefully that solves this. He should not be able to buy or sell on this site though after this because this is ridiculous.

If the matter is not taken care of I may have to take a trip to NJ (where he lives) since i only live 1 1/2 hours away...

This is the information I have about this guy

I think his name is John

I am getting more thorough information from my mom with the whole story.

I called the guy and of course he does not answer, but before he had our money he answered every call religiously.

i understand what you are saying riken, but thats just not the way it is. i could go into the sematics of it, but its not worthwhile.

Ep1dem1c: fwiw we have had many threads deleted for just this reason... at least one of them was a discussion based on the claim that a vendor had scammed multiple ppl out of money/parts totalling well over $50K.... i think posting personal information is viewed as a kind of breach of privacy...

well, two things for the future that you should have learned:

1) make sure the listing has pictures of the actual product!
2) make sure that the seller has rep...as in a lot of posts on this forum, or with a similar name on another forum with a lot of posts (or eBay, for that matter).

Best of luck!

the thing here is, who is the ultimate authority to determine if someone has been ripped off? the member/buyer? i hope not otherwise anyone who's ever had a bad experience would end up with someone banned - even if it was honest mistakes/misunderstandings. Paypal? everyone has their own opinions on paypal and their policies/procedures/etc, but i'm sure they dont always make the right calls as they only have limited information with which to work... so is the final authority supposed to be law enforcement involvment?

this is why we have good guy/bad guy threads.... and that giant flashing neon signs that say "buyer beware" anyone who is concerned with possible botched deals on the web, shouldnt be buying on the web

This personal information was found on the internet and everyone has access to it if they put in the right work to find it. Very easy

Please do not post anyone's personal information on here. This is why we explicitly post "buyer beware" on the classifieds section. I hope this works out for you, and you get your money back. Unless this guy has proof that the parts were delivered, paypal should find in your favor.

edit: I see you were already told by other members not to post personal information. You're not making yourself look good by refusing to remove it. I understand you're angry, but next time, this will be a warning.

never trust paypal. always fund paypal payments with a real credit card so you can charge back if paypal screws with you.

i said this in the other thread, and will say it here.

i've bought things from him twice. first was a rear bumper, second was a set of rims.

i bought the rims from him last saturday.

he has never scammed me. i have nothing but good stuff to say about him.

in fact, he said the rims i bought were slightly curbed. apparently our opinions on what slightly curbed mean. to mean, a few interactions with a curb is slightly curbed to me. to him, it means one or two BRUSHES with the IDEA of a curb is slightly curbed. and the price i paid for them too. great deal.

i've been to his shop twice.

he has some very sexy cars there.

rb26 turbo silvia
turbo 20b rx7
etc etc

why would he scam someone over $400? it just seems illogical to me. it doesnt make sense.

not when he has thousands of dollars of stuff laying around his shop, just waiting for someone (like me) to come by and pick up.

if there is a problem, i think it takes two to tango.

he's always been square with me. and i think he's pretty cool.

the money was returned, there was no scam intentions, i had a death in the family which included out of state travel and funeral...good for about 2 weeks of time, i apologize, then christmas, and the shipping quote i got was wrong so i needed to get the additional money for the shipping which was 206 dollors to florida (so, after shipping i was sending a bumper to this *** for 190 bucks...ok fine). once that was all settled i have no excuse for the delay, got caught up in the holodays i guess and was goin to ship right after christmas. then i get phone calls and threatening texts from you know who on christmas day and decided it was not worth the time and aggrivation to deal w/ him and told him the money would be sent back, which was within 3 days (had to wait for check to clear....sorry). oh and after all the texts and calls on christmas day, he still had the nerve to ask me if i was still goin to send the bumper? can you believe that! so i sold the bumper to someone else, who picked it up, and had no problem. do you really think i would scam you with my real account info? my email address for the shop that sponsors me, (not my job), you post my personal info online, and relate potentially negative info about a shop because you speculate that i work there? not knowing if that is true........i was scammed by mazsport for 1500 worth of parts, i know what it feals like, stop crying wolf cuz i had some real-life **** come up and im sorry but the bumper was not my main concern at the time. i appologize for the hassle, and the waste of your time. it should have been sent sooner and it wasnt. grow up. - jon debevoise

Buying from members with good reputation is a lot safer than something like ebay. Trust me.
