I dont know what type of volume his ecommerce site has but its ecommerce based to make it easier for the user and the operator of the site to deal with orders and if you are a one man band calling all customers ahead of time to say hey the item is not in stock is and could take awhile could be tedious thats why they just place that sort of info next to the item so you see it when ordering.

I agree communication is the key after an order is placed 100%. i just think the above can eliminate alot and makes the customer aware before they even send payment and could be a possible solution It is for the international wholesale medical supply company i work with as well as the 50+ ecommerce sites i help admin over.

"how about he take a small deposit, order the item and then have the customer pay when he actually has it in hand instead of taking all the money up front." i dont think this would be a smart option for any business person i mean a majority of us hopefully are trustworthy but a customer could easily deceive you and not pay once they have received the item. In my industry we grant net 30 terms to customers but thats after running a background credit check and receiving references and even then customers get good and disappear....
even just charging the card once it ships is standard practice. i have found that a lot of smaller businesses charge the card right away so RR isn't alone but you should not be charged until they know they have the product and are shipping it out to you. they shouldn't be getting charged by their supplier until they have the item shipped to them so by charging us right away really they're just floating our money while we wait.

^Good point my business charges at the time of shipment for items in stock.

However we charge most drop ship orders for customers who are not worthy of terms up front and i think its for the reason being once an order is relayed to a manufacturer they can give you an expected date however lets say the item ships sooner or later and doesn't notify you appropriately and has shipped the item then you are now responsible for paying the vendor as well as collecting payment from a customer which is......well no fun. In my industry of medical supplies flub ups are all to common so there is alot of protecting oneself im assuming the aftermarket car parts industry isnt as busy though.

you forgot to mention those immature whack jobs with reading comprehension skills FTL or those pinko communist slobs who talk American freedom out one side of their mouth and beating somebody's face down in put the other, usually the same as those who try to openly brag that they have 50 rwhp than they actually do ...

It will be a lot easier to meet up if I tell you where I am, LMK

The supply problems will only get worse with time. The RX-8 is a relatively rare car. With used 04's selling for under $10k, there's a rush of 16-25 yo's eager to rice their rides. In a couple of years this will be over and opportunities to buy fresh aftermarket mods for the 8 will dry up fast. With a total of ~3,000 Series IIs sold in the USA so far, there's not much hope for any Series II modder parts, period. The market will become much more build-on-sale, if anyone finds it worth bothering with at all.

if it's being drop shipped then the vendor has to choose how to cover themselves if they can't trust their customers. they can charge up front (which I wouldn't blame them for doing) or have a good enough relationship with their suppliers that there aren't any surprises and they have enough time to run the card before it ships. I'm not sure what the ratio of drop-ship items is to the rest but I would imagine most items get shipped to the vendor who ships them out.

Why would I lie to you? I did let you know that it was going to be a few days and that changed.

I knew you weren't going to be able to get anything so I wasn't going to argue with you.

Haha, well you are young in spirit my friend. My parents are middle aged, haha. But age doesn't mean a lot, my old wrestling coach was like 70 and could grapple like a 20 year old.

Now that sounds like a fun trip. I am actually not a Phd or M.D., I just hire them and manage them.

I'm new to the RX8 so I don't have a lot of history with the vendors on this site. But I've made two purchases from Brice, one item was in stock and the other was a one week wait. Both products were shipped as initially estimated and I've been a happy customer.
