Ok, I'm new to these boards but I've been buying stuff here and there(the rx8 I have now to turbo kits and other parts). I just recently got scammed on another deal for coilovers so I went to raceroots and ordered a brand new Megan street coilovers(waited 2 months for coilovers that never came) Brice told me 850 shipped to Hawaii so I said sure, sent him the money 2 weeks ago. I get a reply that it'll be 2-3 days for
Megan to have them in stock, so I figure fine I'll wait some more, throughout last week I sent pms asking if they came in(the 2-3 days as told) no response. Today I get a pm saying it'll be 2-3 weeks. I asked for my money back so let's see what happens. I just can't wait this much longer, which is total 4 months.

Sorry brother, sounds like typical Race Roots bullshit to me. Now all the RR fan Boi's will hop in an tell you how you are being impatient, unreasonable, etc.

But you are doing right to post up your story. Also go to the Good Guy/Bad Guy thread and post up another separate thread about it.

It's not impatience, it's business. You go to a store and if you see the candy you buy it. The candy isn't stored in a glass case and once you pay the clerk tells you to wait? If I could get my coilovers asap no prob but I didn't send money to wait another month or
more because I also live in Hawaii. Well like I said I just want money back or coilovers.

Welcome to the world of buying car parts. Ive had this exact situation happen with assaultech, re amemiya, r magic, some random company I ordered Tein springs from...etc. If you ask a vendor if the part is "in hand"...and it isnt...be prepared for the worst. Thats how I see it.

I'm some two months late for this whole "public apology"

I kind have fallen off the map with RX8Club as a whole. Between me at school, had little time to read and post but to the subject.

It's quite late for me to throw my opinion out there but I'll say my piece since there is a place my piece can sit.

I bought from FluidMotorSports around November of 2008. This is when the had a fluid motorsports developmental header. It was presale of $450 with an expected date of December. I recall getting the headers by I believe March. In which the entire time Fluid held my $450 dollars at that time. Brice really could not ever tell me when my parts were coming. I kept receiving updates from Brice after several PMs. I had printed numerous reciepts, emails, and pms from Brice and myself. I was in contact with a lawyer looking to pursue a case against Brice.

The rumors were all true that Brice was in dealing with Scott. I really think for me personally it would be hard to buy from him again considering the sh*t I went through where I had paid for $450 for something that never seemed to be coming. Unfortunately, for me to give Brice another chance is far too late. He had the best prices, but I felt it was almost a gamble to know if a part was actually going to come or not.

I also recall an event where the restocking fee had changed on his website. It was at one time I believe 10% and then jumped to 30%. I have it printed somewhere in the file I was building for my case with my lawyer. Yeah, having a lawyer seemed a little much, but it is presidence as a whole considering the RX8 community had been scammed already.

I mean I stand again saying that being so young into my life with cars, that I think it will be hard for me to trust anyone in the parts business because of this.

But let alone for the RX8 community, I will be parting with my baby in August/September when my new car arrives off of the boat.

Although I do feel Race Roots has, in my opinion, soiled its reputation its really hard to make a case about late orders on namebrand parts like megan coilovers or any brands like AEM, HKS, etc. Mostly because its not always the vendor that deals with that stuff but its the distributor. It happens sometimes where you call and check stock and you will be mislead as to when the part will be available and give incorrect information to your customer. Plus most stuff is drop shipped now so its not really ever in the vendors hands.

to sum it up I think someone said it earlier...anyone can use a distributor and drop ship or sell name brand parts. That is not what this whole thing is about though. So its pointless to post comments like that here. Unless it was some sort of mismanagement of funds for parts being spent on other ventures then its pointless

So do you think it is dishonest and deceitful to list and item as in stock then if you do not have it in stock? Is it okay to blow a customer off and not respond in a timely manner?

It is a scam of sorts. Not to mention the fact that the communication is **** and people get bullshit excuses other than honest responses. But hey, some people will defend and some wish bash. I know for a fact that this thread has deterred some local people from buying from RR and even if one person is saved from getting dicked around then I am satisfied.

My rep at Megan told me it would be in that Friday then come monday I asked him he told me 2-3 weeks before it would come in.

I have no control over what happens with their shipments. Sorry to hear you got scammed elsewhere on your coilovers I refunded the money.

Edit: Sorry for not replying sooner because it was my Fiancées birthday and we were away for a few days.

What I mean is pretty much what Brice posted. IF you call your sales rep at whatever manufacturer or distributor and they say they can get it to you just to get the sale....then that scews you and your customer...I am only referring to those mainstream parts though as many ppl are posting useless things like of that sort that are not really the main reason this thread was made.

Well either way it should not be listed as "In stock" unless it is actually in stock. It seems pretty simple to me.

All I hear are bullshit excuses and passing the buck..

No I would rather he let the customer know before they pay that their item may or may not be in stock and that there could be a delay in shipping since he doesn't hold any stock. Or hey, how about this, how about he take a small deposit, order the item and then have the customer pay when he actually has it in hand instead of taking all the money up front. the complaints all have a similar tone, a lack of communication. I have been ordering crap online since before the days of Pay Pal and it is funny how 95% of the vendors I have dealt with treated me right without issues.

Again, it's all about communication and honesty.

^ I agree with honesty and communication maybe i didnt explain it enough would you rather see on the website it labeled as "drop shipped from manufacturer 7-14 day lead time" that way a customer knows what they are in for many ecommerce sites do this and thats actually letting you know its not in stock its shipping from a manufacturer and hopefully the time frame is broad enough and you might get it sooner which is even better. I dont know what type of volume his ecommerce site has but its ecommerce based to make it easier for the user and the operator of the site to deal with orders and if you are a one man band calling all customers ahead of time to say hey the item is not in stock is and could take awhile could be tedious thats why they just place that sort of info next to the item so you see it when ordering.

I agree communication is the key after an order is placed 100%. i just think the above can eliminate alot and makes the customer aware before they even send payment and could be a possible solution It is for the international wholesale medical supply company i work with as well as the 50+ ecommerce sites i help admin over.

"how about he take a small deposit, order the item and then have the customer pay when he actually has it in hand instead of taking all the money up front." i dont think this would be a smart option for any business person i mean a majority of us hopefully are trustworthy but a customer could easily deceive you and not pay once they have received the item. In my industry we grant net 30 terms to customers but thats after running a background credit check and receiving references and even then customers get good and disappear....

Thanks for giving me back my money, just wish I had known prior to paying cause I could've gotten the Stance GR+ brand new for a lil more but its sold now. So I bought custom d2's instead. What a long wait for just coilovers =(

You get what you pay for ( usually )

There are very few companies that carry huge amounts of stock in anything...

Even the big companies drop ship a lot of their "inventory"..........

This is getting very old...and quite stupid really........

I've ordered Stuff from Garrett...and been told that it is back ordered...and I'll get it when it comes in.....try dealing with that ..it was over 8 months....

Haha, sure it does. The world has a way of working itself out, there are those who talk tough and those who are tough. Usually those people meet up eventually.
