What: Rx-8 18" Rim

How Much: $135 USD

Where: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=95744

Description of item: 1 oem 18 wheel perfect

Problem: I went to get the rim professionally put on at a local tire store and they showed me that the rim is bent or warped when spun and that it usually happens when a wheel is in an accident. The rim was being advertised as PERFECT. The rim is far from perfect as I can not use it. If I were to put it on my car, there would be a bouncing sensation constantly and could cause other problem.

Resolution: I have asked the seller for a refund, but have not received a response back. I would ship the rim back to him if he wanted, but still no response. I hope we can work something out. Now I have two damaged rims, instead of just one. I wanted to replace my original scratched rim with this one I bought.

wow that sucks. The rim does look perfect from the pics though. How would it have been in an accident without any blemishes?

I'm not sure it was actually in an accident, because you are right, the rim is in good condition, except for the warping. It was just a theory that the tire store said.

The tire store I took it too, before they put any rim on a car, they have some machine that spins the rim with tire on it to see if there is any problems, and of course when they put this rim on, you could visiablly see the ovally effect or how it was actually warped. It is not round.

I did some research and called the rim doctor and wheel wizard in my local area and they charge $140 (canadian) to fix the rim. That is almost as much as I paid for this rim. So I hope that slow_2ed_gen and I can work something out, but I have not heard from him since I received the rim.

Hopefully by posting on here, I can get something resolved. It just sucks, I really wanted to replace my curb rashed rim.

It seems as though slow_2ed_gen does not post much on rx8club, but he is a regular on rx7club, so I also posted on there as well.

So just an update.. still not an e-mail from slow_2ed_gen to any of my e-mails.

But I put in a claim at paypal and of course slow_2ed_gen replied on paypal saying that it was damaged in shipping and that I didn't ask for insurance, so its my fault. So I'm screwed.. I guess I'm going to be out $150.

Well this sucks.. he screwed me over.

I had a set of rocker arms that the box got ripped open on the conveyor belt and they "lost" all the pieces. Well, I didnt have insurance on it either, but they refunded $100. I think it was UPS, they'll insure up to $100.

I know it wasnt damaged in shipping, but if thats what their sticking you with, maybe try to get at least a $100 back.

I'm not on either side, but perhaps there is the possiblity it got damaged when shipped. From the pics they look perfect, and if anything happened on his end, you would think there would be some sort of visual damage. Maybe something heavy was sitting on it when it was shipped..

The box is perfectly fine, I can take a picture to prove it. It came in a cardboard box.. and if the box is fine, im sure the rim didnt get damaged in transit.

I don't know what else to do. I've given up, there isnt much I can do, its basically his word vs mine, and he has my money, so I think i've lost.. i'm just going to pay the extra money and take it to a rim doctor to get it fixed.. sigh.. i guess thats what I should have done with my curb rashed rim and I wouldnt be in this mess.

you can put in a claim through UPS but they will revert the claim process to go through the shipper....there is a guaranteed $100 insurance on all shipments and they usually pay out within a few weeks if you have a receipt to prove the worth....you can still claim it through paypal or your credit card company because it should be FOB shipper not receiver in any transaction.....

I gave up. I can't win. I took the wheel to a rim doctor and was going to pay to have it fixed and they found out that the center is the bent part and once that is bent, it can no longer be fixed. So it's scrap. So i'm out $190 cdn after shipping, border fees and getting the rim tested.

As for UPS, even if I claimed the rim, the most I can get back is $40, as thats how much the value was posted on the customs paper work. This was my fault for putting it at a low value as I asked slow_2ed_gen to put it very low so I wouldn't have to pay a huge fee for crossing the border. But I wasn't expecting the rim to be bent in the first place.

There is no way the rim got bent during shipping anyways, the box it came in, was perfect, no cracks or bends. So I got screwed.
