Yeah, this was a few years ago and since then I read up on some car buying guides and this is technically on the illegal side (or at least toes the line for excessive shadiness). When test driving a car, you only need to SHOW them a valid DL, they don't need to make copies, etc., since they can then use personal info to run a credit check.

Incidentally, the one in El Paso didn't even ask me for a DL...

Hey ToothFairy. I got my White AT Grand Touring from Tustin Mazda. I know a guy there so was able to get a pretty good deal. As far as I remember, they had about five or six 8s there, one of them being white and I am pretty sure that had a tigray and a galaxy gray there also. Let me know if you want me to contact my guy there and see what he's got in.

Thanks! I would definitely appreciate as much help as I can get in finding my 8. I am very familiar with Tustin Mazda and their inventory. Unfortunately they don't have any 2005 manual 8's in the colors I like. I bought my last 8 from HB Mazda which is Tustin's sister dealership, so my guy at HB has been keeping an eye on everything that comes through. However, if you wouldn't mind, please let your friend know what I am looking for: White or gray 2005 GT manual

Thanks again!

Brown's Mazda Alexandria VA

Negative

Wanted to charge me 97 bucks in labor to remove my front bumper to change my low beam light bulbs....what does it say in the manual? Open the wheel well and do it!

Don't think the kid tech put my royal purple in my transmission because he said it could not use it. Then flipped the story fast in front of the boss and said he did it.

0 confidence in the place.

That's too bad...sorry to hear about your troubles.

I bought my car from Browns Alexandria Mazda last February and it's been a mixed experience. On one hand, they made my purchase easy (I set up a deposit 3 weeks in advance to hold the car I wanted), but upon delivery the car had 2 paint CHIPS (down to the primer), a small dent, and about 2 scratches (2 inches in length). They promised to fix it for me, but at the time I needed the car so they let me take it back in to them in August (due to my special circumstances).

Upon pickup, they fixed the the dent, chips, and scratches in the rear quarter panel, but still had to order the vinyl appliqué (which I didn't know they hadn't done yet, when I was called to pickup the car).

So I brought the car back in a week later (when the vinyl had arrived) and it turns out they received the wrong sided appliqué so I had to come back again. On the third visit to have this quarter panel issue fixed, they finally applied the appliqué. All of this was done free of charge (obviously) and they did a respray of the quarter panel that is very impressive (can't tell any difference).

However, this whole process was a big PITA as driving to the dealer took 75 minutes each way...and returning multiple times for them to finish the job wasted a lot of my time.

Mazda of Lakewood: BAD

I bought my car Sept 1, the deal itself went very smoothly. The salesman walked around the car with me, filled out the I Owe/We Owe paperwork, and away I went.

Well, the windshield was cracked, they agreed to replace. It took them 3 weeks to "find" a windshield, and installed the wrong mirror mount. When they installed it, they also scratched the car in multiple spots. They agreed to fix the paint. And before I continue, they called me on a Saturday and said the person was there to install the windshield. I live about 15/20 minutes away and said I was on my way. Literally grabbed the keys jumped in the car, and got down there. When I arrived, they had released the technician and said they'd reschedule for Monday. I was livid.

It took them 4 weeks to deliver the floormats (wouldn't give me a set out of the 8 other RX-8s on the lot), 4 weeks to fix the center console, 4 weeks to replace the head unit with the WRONG ONE. Knowingly. When they fixed the scratches from the windshield replacement, there was overspray all over the roof/trunk/driver's side of the car. When I asked for a rental car (I had dropped the car off a total of 8 times, and only 2 of those times was any work actually done.) they said it was illegal in Colorado to provide a rental vehicle. Huh???

So...um, don't go there. Bad place.

Great Neck Mazda in Long Island !

Story :

I did NOT bought my car there. I got it in Manhattan Mazda, Long story short is that, I've never been to Manhattan Mazda for service because they dont have a loaner, and it takes them really long time to do something simple. say, 5 hours waiting for an oil change.

Then I start looking for dealerships for services (Warranty only), I was checking around and Great Neck Mazda is the only one around here that offers a loaner. Ok, I went there. First question they asked me was *Did you get your car here?* I was like *No* ... then that Fat guy keeps on typing, His name is Mike I think.

Everytime I go there they have to fix a lot of stuff. Say, Brake pads, Recalls, Rear Lights, etc etc. After 4-5 times, I think they start getting sick of me going there. never call me to pick up my car, said they will order some parts but never call me back.

Then finally one time, I have a SSV CEL code, I know what it means, and I know the part is cheap (like what,60 bux?) , the only problem is that they have to take the intake plastic out to replace it, which should take like what, 1 hour the most to do everything ? They start talking **** like oh your aftermarket intake is the cause of the malfunction ... I was like wtf ? then they took pictures and ****, said that they have to Ask Mazda first on what to do. because Mazda will void the whole car's warranty if you have aftermarket parts (which is complete bullshit I know). and their fuxking face was like *you bitch, Im tired of seeing you, never come back again*

Ok, I never went back, when I went out of the dealership, I just drove my car like I stole it for 2-3 tanks of gas, guess what the problem never came back.

These fuxkers at Great Neck Mazda does NOT KNOW **** about cars.

Yesterday I had a dealership to print me a copy of my warranty, guess what fuxkers @ Great Neck Mazda. My warranty is STILL HERE u BITCHES.

SSV Valve is nothing major, and it gets stuck easily if u dont drive the car hard. Learn how to fix a fuxking car u morons.

thank you.

Allow me to repeat one more time

DO NOT GO TO GREAT NECK MAZDA IN LONG ISLAND NEW YORK ! They dont know **** about cars ! All they know is how to read the service manual. if its not listed in the Manual, they will try to come up with some Bullshit to blame the problem on you !!!!!

Update: Oh one more thing. I came back from Manhattan Mazda, and they actually found that both of my rear lights were wrong. I got the Shinka trim, my rear Lights suppose to have the silver shinny thing(I dont know how to say it), but it was the dull one. They replaced it with the right Shinka one looks 10 times better(they have to replace it anyway, it was fogging up)

PLUS ! Damn bastards at Great Neck Mazda gave me the wrong HVAC controls ! Mine suppose to be shinny silver, they gave me the *Regular* version. Those pigs. Im going to buy the **** and replace it myself later. They cant fix ****, seriously.

DO NOT GO GREAT NECK MAZDA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mitchell Mazda in Enterprise, AL.

Took the car there because sometimes during "spirited" driving the 2-3 shift would not be completely smooth. Remember, I drove the car onto their lot.

They called me back to say I needed a new clutch bracket and parts/labor would be $700. I also had the oil changed while it was there, so I asked the service rep if I could pick the car up and get the repair sometime in the future. She said no problem, and by the way it's 100 bucks for diagnosing the car. I said no, because they never told me that and I never signed anything that said that.

When I went to pick up my car they handed me the keys and I paid for the oil change. When I went to crank the car the shifter would NOT MOVE! To make a long story short, the manager called the service "tech" who said he never touched the car to determine that it needed a clutch bracket.

I knew I had a case against them, but I let it go since the manager offered to pay for half the repair(which proves they did something wrong in my eyes). Bottom line is I let them off the hook since I was in the middle of building a new house and did not want to spend the money for a lawyer. I've never taken my car there for any sort of service since.

Hayward Mazda in Hayward, CA.

I brought my car in to have the starter replaced under the TSB released in August of last year. They techs there claimed I wasn't eligible for that recall. I checked the VIN number and I was. They claimed that due to my replacing the cat with a race pipe and changing the interior lights to red caused a drain on the battery.

Yes that's right. They claimed having red interior lights caused enough of a drain on the battery to cause starting problems. Those little lights are on for 3 seconds when I open the door and get in and close it again. They also told me that they had to jump start the car.

I sent an e-mail back asking just what the hell they were doing to my car. I've never had to jump start it. I told them to stop the lies about the interior lights and get to the point. I received a particularly nasty voicemail message from one of their techs calling me a punk and inviting me to come call him a liar to his face. Hardly actions fitting a customer service position. I admit I laughed after I heard that part. Luckily I was able to get my car back in one piece without any cost to me.

My warning to anyone with aftermarket parts is to stay well away from Hayward Mazda. Putnam Mazda in Burlingame has never given me trouble with all my aftermarket parts.

BAD: Cooley Mazda in Upstate NY

Went there to get my ignition coils checked only, told them specifically literally 5 times not to flash my ecu because I was satisfied with the current gas mileage I was getting ( i have the RB flash ) heard him tell the service manager not to flash it, sure enough I come back they promise they didn't do anything to it... I get in my car and OF COURSE the flash has been ******* erased, I call back and flipped out they still swear they didn't flash it, not my car feels super sluggish compared to before, they will lie straight to your face don't go there.

Sierra Mazda. Bought 07 BB GT. Noticed cracks in the inner part of the headlight shield. Asked the service department why there would be cracks and told me that the cracks usually happen when the shields are taken out to replace with aftermarket bulbs, which I did not. When I told the service manager that I bought it stock and did not modify the lights, I was told that the lights were indeed aftermarket. I called the sales person over to go over the problem. He insisted that the lights are stock, but couldn't explain why there would be cracks. I did not go further feeling that I'd probably kill someone if I found out that I bought a car that was touched up. Also, it made me feel especially furious feeling that I had the service done by someone who was incompetent, and/or I was lied to by the sales guy. I still don't know which.

I love my car, but that made me feel terrible. I wouldn't recommend Sierra Mazda to anyone.

Alhambra Mazda - Alhambra, CA.

Bought my car there.

My car had 3 instances in one week where the symptoms described in the 4206F recall letter were present (engine rattling, severe lack of power on warm days). After three years and 55K miles (coincidentally the same week Mazda issued the recall notice along with an extension of warranty to 60K) requested check into 4206F recall.

Dealership replaced my battery (warranty prorated) - charged me ~$75.
Dealership recommended I perform 50K major service - charged ~$400.
Only after making me spend around $500 with them did they look into the recall procedure, but told me they couldn't reproduce the problem I described so they sent me on my way. Next day I had the same problems again.

Took the car to Tustin Mazda, who confirmed the problem but requested I go back to Alhambra to have them do the recall work (this is how courtesy between dealerships works I guess). Took the car back to Alhambra:

Replaced the engine as per 4206F (without contacting me about it first)
Covered only half the rental vehicle fee.

Subsequent visits to Alhambra resulted in:
Refusal to put my car on a lift because my Mazdaspeed side skirts were too low
Up-charging my standard oil change by $7 per quart of Mazda 5W20 oil because the rotary required "special oil" and without it would "void my engine warranty".

Oak Lawn Mazda - Do not buy from OAK LAWN MAZDA in Illinois. I bought mine there, there was a lot of info not disclosed which would have definitly effected price or my buy decision. Stay away from Brian Daily. He doesn't know what he is talking about, the finance guys try to pawn anything off on you. Technical staff are idiots.

I take mine to Don Miller Mazda for service since I moved to WI. Great guys - at least the service department, knows way more about rotary than anyone I met so far. Their owners are big RX-7 and rotary engine enthusiasts, so they know their stuff and respects these cars!
