Thumbs down Bad Guy: Vivid Racing

I've purchased from vivid before when Huff was around. Great guy and smooth transactions, but I guess its not that same after he left.

Wanted to order some project mu rear brake pads. My local vendor is out of stock. I contacted vivid before placing the order to make sure they were in stock. They said it was. so I placed the order. Contacted them 3 times asking for tracking. Tracking guy says will email me within 15 minutes after the phone conversation. Of course, no trackings at all.

4th time, I emailed saying that it seems the pads are not in stock, yet you vivid told me it was in stock.
Then vivid said the pads are "in stock in japan". wtf? I didnt bother debating w/ them as to what is considered "in stock", I just ask for freaking update. 2 weeks have passed. I emailed them again, and they are still following up.

I could have just asked my local vendor to special order it from japan from the first place, instead of paying a higher premium (30% more) than going thru vivid and total lack in response.

Thanx

Just for the record - Vivid stocks absolutely NOTHING.
They have some Power Agency and Billy Boat stuff there - but those are locally made in Phoenix.

Dan is obviously a savvy businessman - he has grown that shop into quite an enterprise (He drives an INCREDIBLE Porsche, which is a long throw from his more "humble" start), but Vivid's business practices are nothing short of fraudulent.

Sounds like the experience I had with them. They are terrible. Just buy from the vendors on this board. They are all pretty good.

Ive had a bad experience with them as well. Called to let them know and complain and the owner basically told me to stop bitching because i got a good price on the item. And then his fs post with the pictures and the condition the item was in was deleted so i couldn't use that against him.

That's harsh I don't see using them for parts in the future.

i did order a JIC exhaust from them, wanted TI, and asked for 2 day, they called said it would be shipped 2 day air, in 2 weeks when they recieved the item, i ended up getting something else from them and it took 2 weeks to get it.

Overall i wasnt that impressed, i heard they get Volks super cheap, but i opted to get mine locally to save the hassle.

IMO, there are a few good tuning shops out there, but when your new to the import tuning scene like i was a few years back, sometimes you can land yourself in a awful mess.

Man, I must be the only one who's had nothing but good experiences with Vivid. I got my Volk GTS, pre-ordered, and delivered with timely updates before they were even available or listed anywhere. I got my Rays Center cap, lug nuts, Agency power stuff pretty quick too.

Agency Power is like their "house brand", so they stock some of it.
You probably got someone else's stuff.

cancelled the order in the end. they said it was japan not having them shipped out etc.

I already knew anything from japan will be slow, but telling me that they had them in stock, then later tell me its in stock in japan. Thats just hilarious.

Thanx
