I don't know why you are confused, it was a simple question. I asked if anyone owned a V-8 as their other vehicle(s). I didn't specify what type, because I just wanted to know if RX-8 owners drive V-8's also. It really didn't matter if it was a domestic or foreign V-8. I guess the reason I'm asking is because RX-8 owners love their cars and it's a special type of car so I wanted to know if they would also own a V-8 vehicle. I just became curious because I own four other vehicles besides the RX-8, and they are all V-8's

I have a 1980 Silverado stepside inline 6 w/ 3 on the tree. Has an *** ton of torque, but a different kind of fun to drive. Its my project thats past thrumy family but I've it the last 10 years just trying to keep it alive and away from the wife. Why can't they just leave our toys alone?
I have always said I will never, ever buy a GM vehicle, but I have to admit the new camaro impresses me and I am considering it. This might only be due to the fact that I am used to driving my 8 but I test drove the V-6 Camaro and that thing felt pretty damn fast and even the handling was a ton better than I would have ever thought for a car that is on the heavy side. I would even argue the V-6 Camaro (25-30k) would be a much better value for what you get than opting for the V-8 which gets you close to 40k for the 2SS. Is it really worth almost 10k extra for an additional 100hp you can't even use in everyday driving? Pretty much the only other car I am considering is the 370z and around here they are a pain in the *** to find and I'm sure I will be irritated to no end with Nissans **** poor paint quality. If Im spending over 30k on a car I don't expect the whole front end to be chipped to hell after only a few months of ownership. You should see the complaints on the Nissan board about the paint quality. I've had my 8 for over 6 years and with the exception of a few dings on the front bumper and a couple of small chips on the hood the paint is pretty much flawless and I drive it year-round.

If you don't stomp on it at least a couple of times during your commute, you're a little girly man. 422hp is NOT that much. You might be able to get to tires to snake around from a roll in first gear, but that's not enough power to vaporize them in second or third. It's just not going to happen. It's not... that... much... power.
You'll get that V6 and then get tired of it and want more. The Camaro is only really fun if you're in a power drift going sideways.
Get the SS... at least test drive it.
I used to own a 1977 f-250 with a 460 CID (7.5 L) 385 V8.
I think i got 3 mpg.
Probably why I never get phazed by the rx-8's thirst.

I have since owned a Ranger with a 2.3l turbo i4 out of a mustang, a 94 rx-7 R2, and a VW r32, and obviously the 8-Renesis. Still not sure what one I like more.

as for how it compares, the vette has insane torque and the back end tries to pass the front end every time you nail the gas, even at speed. I've beefed the suspension up greatly, but the handling is no where near as good as the RX. the vette has no a/c, so between that and the side pipes when I drive it I arrive at my destination sweaty and smelling of exhaust. they are both great cars in their own way, but I think of the RX as the go cart I always wanted when I was a kid and more. It's comfortable, fun to drive, gets good mileage (compared to the vette) and I still smell good when I get where I'm going.

Old muscle cars aside, I actually don't see why V8's still exist outside of the truck market. There is no justification for one anymore as power from small engines has really moved up. Turbo technology is really good now so a smaller boosted engine makes larger non boosted engines functionally obsolete. I have never owned a V8 and probably never will. I don't even buy a 6 cyl option over a 4 cyl.

I agree in essence with RG but, anytime an American muscle car comes out nowadays, if it doesn't have at least a V8 it's not a muscle car IMO. Other than that genre and trucks, a V6 or 4 cyl should be used.
It's like some people with the rotary, poor power for the cost and mpg the engine takes but offers high revs and unique sound. Is why a lot like the V8's, torque crazy that with a tc or sc will still overwhelm a smaller engine and the sound alone is a beast not to mention alike mpg as the rotary.. Different strokes for different folks

And I'll poke my head in here with the other old ford truck guys. 95 Bronco like in my sig. 176k miles on the original not rebuilt 351W. Its nice to be able to pretty much ignore weather reports in an Ohio winter. 4x4 + snow tires = never shoveling my driveway. Ever.

I haven't run the car at the track, but considering the traction issues with that much torque it wouldn't pull very good times on those tires, it's really just a play toy for me.

Fate, all those trucks are huge, I loved my 460 in the mud, hated it on the highway (I had three on the tree).
