You know what I really want?

An RX-8 with a sweet, sweet 2.3L DISI engine. Call it the MX-6, or MX-8 if you'd like.

That thing would absolutely blow the G35 coupe into the weeds. Perfect alternative to the new Hyundai coupe. Assuming the MZR is about the same weight as the RENESIS, that would be a 2900lb car with 274hp and 280lb-ft.

Delicious.

THE main reason I bough the 8 was for the Rotary engine. FI that thing and you're good to go. (best of both worlds)

Sorry...that idea makes too much sense. The man hours alone it would take to brainstorm a proper badge name for this M3 eater would be exhausting for Mazda. No what we really need is a good reason to put more gas guzzling, oil eating, underpowered rotaries into a wonderful front engine rear wheel drive chassis. That way the "RX" badging would continue to fit like a glove, 60lbs of engine weight could be saved at the cost of 50whp, and the legions of rotary heads could still have all the handling of a sports car with the power of a Deawoo and the gas mileage of an H2.

For one, I'd like to see a rotary engine continue to be produced for the people that love them. I like the rotary, but I'll probably never own one because I feel the postives don't make up for the negatives. However, that doesn't mean I want to see them go away. However, if Mazda made a RWD car with their turbo charged 2.3L and the handling Mazda is capable of I'd certainly be interested. Mazda seems to have some screwy tuning with most of their turbo piston engines, but it's nothing a aftermarket tune couldn't take care of...
