Very interesting - still will not fix the efficiency issue. But improvements in rotary engine design will help our community.

Along with automotive applications, AIE is pitching the technology as suitable for hybrid powertrains, portable generators, marine and aviation use, and has also built a 5 hp unit that weighs just 4.4 pounds.

It does make more sense for low vibration low noise mixed fuel applications like gennies, equipment and aircraft. There is a long military study on the use of Wankels in drones floating around. Ultimately it lost out to turbines, but you can't run everything on JP5.
