I was wondering when that would show up here lol. I guess if you're going to crash through a couple fences and a house the WRX is a good car to be in. :D Actually it's very rare but there were a few instances of the throttle getting stuck in the WRX and there was a recall to replace some clip that could cause the problem. I have little doubt about the throttle gettng stuck, why the hell he didn't just push the clutch in or turn the car off I'll never know...

Well... the recall states that it only affects cars when the cruise control is on. Most likely he knew about the recall, didn't get it done, drove like a moron with more car than he can handle, then thought the throttle getting stuck would be a good excuse. But I guess it's possible the throttle was stuck...

My friend's dad had a similar experience with a WRX. He's the building manager at this apartment complex. One of the tennants had a remote starter for his WRX. He left his car in gear with the parking brake off and started his car to warm it up on a cold Buffalo morning. Apparently, Ike's car has a hefty starting motor or something because the car jumped up the curb and went through the false brick wall into his apartment. The car got away with some minor dings and scratches, but there was now a hole in the wall that my friend's dad had to fix.

It's an entertaining read so far. There are a couple of good pictures on page 8 and 9; including a satellite pic of the street.
This pic is really funny!

That is a great thread- stupid kid had 3 accidents in 3 months, ending with this one. Stuck throttle or not, the dumbass was showboating in a residential neighborhood and lacked any skills or common sense to bring it under control. I remember many years ago my Dad and I were in his MGB when the throttle cable snapped, and caused the throttle to go wide open (bad design IMO) while going around a corner... clutch in, key off... very simple.
What kind of stupid parenting puts a teenager behind the wheel of a car with that much power and obviously no driving skills... morons. I hope the owner of that house makes sure that stupid kid doesn't see his license again for years.

His turbo also spooled up at 12 mph causing him to launch into a parked SUV and have yet another accident, too much!
This response was classic!
"There's actually a fix out for the wrx to stop the car from suddenly spinning out when you go into boost. There's just one loose nut, behind the steering wheel that connects the throttle to the wheel. Replace that with a good one and the issue is easily resolved."

The kid is awesome. He thinks his parents took away his car (which is farked up anyways) not because he's had 3 accidents with it ("turbo kicking in at 12 mph" on a puddle which caused him to push a parked SUV on a curb, someone cutting him off, him destroying a house and 2 fences) but because... they're jealous of him and his nice car.
OMG. You don't get better than that.
