Also people need to stop thinking that people can't cross shop because of price. Before I got the 8 I was cross shopping a 32k RX-8 vs a 48k used M3 , the only reason why I didn't get the M3 was due to the guy not coming down on the price of the M3. I could have paid for the 48k M3 , but I was not going to pay for a car that was only worth 43k at the time. Instead of the M3 maybe I should have been cross shopping 350Z,Evo's or WRX, not. As a enthusiast i could care less about price class. If I want it ,if the car moves my soul and heart , I will get it.
There are exceptions, but it's fairly rare to see anyone shopping between completely different price ranges.

Tiburon is not a sports car but is is sporty. IF you have euro suspension package (03GT and 07-08 SE) then it handling is comparable with RSX-S (which is prety good for FWD car). It is 35% stiffer in torsional reginity then G35.

The Genesis has a reasonably good chassis, but I hope for their sake that they've ironed out its problems, especially with the manual transmission and clutch. Hyundai overall has come a long way from where they were a few years ago, but on the Genesis they have a little ways to go, IMO. There is something wrong with your car if Detroit steel feels better built, more reliable and overall nicer. That said, give it some snappier suspension and polish it some more and that Genesis could get interesting.
Not commenting on the looks, though. That's too subjective. :P

Huynday have TSB for trany repair - Manual Transmission Gear Shift lever and Oil Replacement- to fix the problem.
With a completely new model in production there always will be some wrong.
As far as better built, more reliable, and overall nicer- that goes on personal opinion ... there are number of reviews going eather way.
Genesis has good suspension - identical layout to new M3 ...all it needs is better tires (as it comes with cheep tires even on track version).
The only reason new mustang shows slightly better stats in handling (96g VS. 94g Lateral acceleration) is because its tires are much wider and uses much better tire compound (255/40R19 VS. 225/40R19) .... even so gen is still more predictable, stable and more suited for the track then any of the muscle cars due to its superior suspension.

1st place: Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Track
The only one that looks and feels like a sports car. Surprise, we liked it best.
2nd place: Ford Mustang V-6
New 3.7 is nearly as quick as last year's 4.6-liter V-8, and more fun to drive, too.
3rd place: Chevrolet Camaro RS
A quick coupe whose weight sacrifices fun and cartoonish cabin compromises comfort.
4th place: Dodge Challenger SE
A yacht trying to keep up with speedboats, but the ride and style are smooth.

Perhaps Mazda will shock the world if the suddenly announce that the next Rotary car is powered by a 16X Turbocharged 360 HP, MID-ENGINED 2-seater. With standard 6-speed or 6-speed Dual Clutch transmission. Weight = 2800 Lbs. Also engine is covered by 160,000 km / 8 year warranty!!!!
Of course, I am only dreaming.... RMR configuration for a mass production car... unlikely in these times.

Mazda follows through and the next Miata chassis comes in at 2200 lbs or so.
16X comes in at 300HP
New RX7-9 is based on the two above.
2200 lbs 2 seats and 300 HP.
Turbo option with 400HP?
Come on Mazda!

true say!
As long as weight distribution is near 50/50 and polar inertia is low the handling will benefit but it would be good to use a trans axle to maintain weight distribution as the cars get lighter.
Mazda will really need to step up their game to compete with these new challengers.

My old neon ACR had McPherson stut front and a rear multilink too. Doesn't mean it was up to par with an M3. What the components are made of, and more importantly the geometry and it's relation to the car are what make a car handle.
I'm just playing devil's advocate here, not bashing you or the Genesis. I think Hyundai has come a very long way and they continue to improve. I hope the new version is fast and continues to grow up.

Americans will flock to it. And Hyundai will cut into Mustang, Camaro,
Challenger sales and even sad to say Corvette sales. Anybody looking at a Vette will think twice, a 2010 C6 with 430HP will set you back 55k large ones, without any options or suspension packages.

People who buy Vettes are looking for a sports car and other things like handling and prestige.
You'll never get that from your Hundayi

While this is a good attempt to defend the car, identical layout doesn't mean as good.

Didn't everyone LOVE the Genesis coupe when it came out? Yet I hardly see any on the roads these days.
I doubt that Hyundai will "kill" the 5.0. Its a beast, and I HATE Mustangs. The Genesis is their first RWD sports car platform. I think they're biting off more than they can chew by going after the 5.0.
BTW even if they make a "better" car, do you really think all the die-hard Mustang guys are going to jump ship and haul *** to the Hyundai dealership? Nah.

Seeing how Hyundai redesigning existing engines ...there will be no V8 in the coupe.
Both 2.oT and 3.8 will be GDI engines producing around 290hp and 350 hp (will be in US in 2012)....2.0 GDI is already in sonata (270 hp)
"The latest edition of the Lambda V-6 engine delivers more power while lowering fuel consumption and emissions. Featuring a 150-bar gasoline direct injection fuel system, Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (DCVVT), and an optimized low-weight crankshaft design and exotic coating technologies on the piston skirts, piston rings and tappets to reduce friction losses, the new 3.8L engine produces maximum power of 350hp—14.5% more than a comparable displacement engine equipped with MPI).

people just look for the HP number and go bananas. thats how they sell cars, apparently alot of people are already SOLD on the idea. lol. Those are just numbers. It will need lots of work done if it even wants to be spoke of in the same breathe as a vette, or even the new Mustang. Dropping and engine in an existing vehicle may only help with power/accel.
