Which would you rather have ? STi vs 370Z

Making some car decisions, narrowed it down to a 36 month lease on the 2011 STi or 370Z. I live in Canada, so snow flies 4 months of the year. It would be my only car.

IIIIII would rather have the 370 (I think). but the subi's are nice, and in YOUR case, i'd say subi for sure.

is the back seat not a determining factor then?

wait, i want to change my answer...is the sti the wagon? then YES on sti. i don't like looks of the sedan...

I would pick the Z... but seeing you live in the great white north, the answer is obvious... the STi.

I'd get the Infiniti G37x coupe. That's like getting both the STi and Z in one same car.

I'm not a huge fan of subaru. I'd say get the STi.

I enjoyed the test drive of the 370z a lot, but based on some of the tracking issues with brakes and the fact that awd could prove to be amazingly useful for you, the STi seems like the obvious choice. I think there's a lot more room to grow on the STi too, if you enjoy modding that is.

In the snow, you will be very glad of the AWD in the STi.

I don't think this would have worked with a 370z.

Haha, that video is awesome.

I like the idea of the STi in the snow, but my commute isn't that far and I live around the city so roads are usually cleared for driving. I think the 370 with snows would be more than fine for the winter I see. The only exception would be when I go to the mountains for some skiing, but I always make other people drive anyway saying my car isn't good in the snow. I might have to drive if I have a Subaru!

The track issues of the 370 are a concern as I do beat on my cars about 10 times a year at the track.

eh... I honestly can't decide. I'd rather have a Ford Focus than either of those. So can I vote Ford Focus? Neither of those cars do anything for me at all.

I'll be leasing the car and RX8s depreciate too much to be sensible.

After reviewing the footage at hand, I officially have respect for Subaru. Go with an STI. I've thought about it myself.

white r3's will depreciate that fast? How do you know how fast a new gen rx8 will depreciate compared to other new cars. I believe your depreciation #'s are based on a whole lot of early se3p's.
Anyways. STI is ugly. Get a Camaro and grey your hair.

Lease residuals aren't based on what you and I think, they're based on black book values. A new RX8 up here in Canada is 40k, the residual after 36 months is 12k, or 30%. The STi is also 40k and the residual is 25k or 62%. That makes an enormous difference on a 36month lease. Mazda also has a 9.9% interest rate on their leases, vs 4.9% on Subarus. You'd have to be a fool to lease an RX8.

STI for sure:

1. Great in Snow
2. Turbo POWAHHHHH
3. Great Mods Potential
4. 4 seater
5. AWD handling
6. Boxer Rumble

Only downside imo
1. Fugly but then the Pros more than make up for it

Leasing is the real problem. I would rather get a bicycle then lease a car. Or maybe crush my nuts in a vice.

It's really not the problem, though your understanding of it might be. That and your inability to write off a portion of the payments. Leasing makes sense to many, whether you own a business or not. All depends on ones priorities.

Holy crap, the residual is 30% now? I'm leasing my '07 with a residual of $19,600. About 48% I think.

I voted for the STI. I've thought of both of your options for my next car and I couldn't see myself driving the 370z in the winter. I myself will be looking at a used STI though, like an '09, when the time comes.

I really can't help but think that Mazda doesn't want people leasing the car now. I mean a 9.9% interest rate? that's double just about everybody elses. The payments on the purchase of the car over 48 months are less than the lease payments for 48 months. 0% interest on the sale.
