It's been very much the opposite of the Mustang - The more I see them, the more I like them. The Mustang was great looking for the first 3 or so days they were out, then they were EVERYWHERE and I think they're looking more and more boring. Shame Dodge had to fall flat on their face by requiring a slushbox.
I think Dodge made the right choice in offering these cars in automatic only. If you look at the Mustang sales, the vast majority are automatics, and that is a coupe with much more sporty handling aspirations. The Charger/300/Magnum are all large people carrying vehicles with optional high performance engines. I don't think Dodge/Chrysler tries to present them as canyon carvers. Their strength is in straight line acceleration, along with the brakes to haul all that mass down to a stop, with reasonably good handling combined with very good ride comfort.

If anyone would choose a 4200 lb plus sedan/wagon to go out and heel toe around on mountain roads, they're few and far between. Not really a big market to go after. As it is, the SRTs aren't flying off the lots, even with limited production, just because there isn't that much of a market for very high performance large vehciles.

Charger R/T will run Mid 5's in 0-60 if you hold your foot on the brake. They are a pretty good value for what they are.

I'd take an 03 540i myself.

hit it on the nail, the stick shift is for the car people that are into balanced tossable cars, not as much the 1/4 mile type, sems like most fast muscle drag cars are autos. while the rx8 type of crowd would like stick available when getting those kinds of cars, our niche of people make up .0005% of their sales.

As most of you know I'm a diehard MT guy. However, my dad has a Magnum RT and I have a hard time imagining the car having a manual. The AT is very well suited to the Hemi. Drive one and you'll probably understand where I'm coming from.

With the driver aids off my dad laid a patch about a 10 feet long at the bottom of the driveway and he certainly wasn't trying, just driving up his long driveway the way he normally does...

The car is automatic for the same reason it was designed as a four door and not like the older 2 door Charger. Marketing says that's their client base. I wouldn't want my Caherger RT with a MT. It's not a sports car. Just stomp on the gas, sit back and start cruising.

Well, I actually did it. Bought an R/T on Wednesday. So now the wife has the 8 and I have the Charger R/T. It's a real nice car and has just a little bit of power.

I just had a Charger rental for a day. What a crappy piece of **** boat to drive. Ugly interior. Yes, it had lots of room in the back seat, but I swear my wife's Honda Pilot seems to handle better than this heavy turdmobile.

This is why you bumped this fossilized thread?

While we're here, I drive a base model Charger for work. The ride is nice, but if only it didn't have a 2.7 liter V6, the worst 4 speed auto on the planet, and ugly plastic everything interior, it would be a nice car.

In short:

+ Nice comfortable ride and bluetooth/sat radio

- Just about everything else

Sorry, I needed to deal with the frustration some how.
