What was your previous car?
I was driving a Neon Sport Coupe for 9 years as I built my business and family. previous to that I had a 84 Capri RS 5.0...the car was modified..I was running 305hp with a 100hp nos kit........now that was an interesting car to drive in the winter!
Here is my circle:
81 RX7 -> 80 RX-7 -> 79 RX7 Street Port -> 93 Mazda MX3 -> 2003 Protege 5 (current) -> 2004 RX8 GT (Pick up next week).
Protege has been a great car, it's retained its value so well that I am giving it back 2 years early on my lease and will only have to pay $1000, BUT WAIT! This months incentive at Mazda on an RX-8 is $1000 Cash back so guess what I don't have to pay.
Can you tell I like Mazda?

First I have heard of this. Am I out of the loop or what?
I drove an 88 Nissan Sentra named Buddy that I bought in Jan 89 with 13k miles. I drove him for the next 15 years and put 175k miles on him in the process. Good times overall.
Now I am loving life in my 8. I just want to drive.

WOWZA, I must say I didn't quite expect such a response so soon. I am thoroughly greatful though, and would like to say I admire your group here. The boards I have been apart of there seemed to be some sort of progression, either from Subaru to an Audi, or a VW to an Audi, here it seems the love for the Rotary knows no boundaries, and has in turn created a much diverse and wonderful group.
I much like the "full circle" some of you have mentioned. I am not really coming full circle, but my best friend lent me his 81 RX-7 GSL some 10 years ago, and since then I have been lusting after a rotary. One day soon I hope to join you with my own 8.

I "upgraded" from a 1980 primer gray Buick Le Sabre. 1 Hub cap, cracked winshield, no head liner, dry rotted seats, back window leak, no AC, tape cassette radio and some other nice mods. It blew a head gasket/cracked head and I needed something a little bit nicer so now I have my 8.
2000 Dodge Durango 4x4 FWD 5.9L, K&N intake, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, Mopar headers, polish throttle body, Mopar PCM.
Over 350 hps = 2x slower than my RX-8, would never go back.
edit: actually make that 3x slower than my RX-8

This car out handled the stock RX8 in any turn
17 inch 3 piece Racing Hart C5s

99 Civic front end conversion
I had a 2000 honda accord coupe 4 cylinder since honda didnt wanna make v6 in manual back then... before that had a 1980 rx7 and loved it and couldnt afford the last edition rx7 but not many could priced at 40,000. so i heard and followed the 8 coming out and bought one 3 months after it was released and i will never own anything else
I went from a 92 Saturn SL (base model) with 180k on it. Still ran perfectly and looked almost like new, but just plain sick of it. I was really planning on buying a Protege5, but the RX8 was just too fantastic to pass up. Between the Saturn and the RX8, I had a 2000 BMW 528i for 3 months, that I bought as a certified used car from a BMW dealer. Unfortunately, they had repainted the rear and the clear coat started to peel off after 2 months. They painted it again, but it looked terrible. So, I returned it and got my money back through the lemon law. I'll never pay top dollar for a "certified" car again.
First Car: Maroon & White '87 Dodge Ramcharger - it was funny lookin' but it was in killer shape and was super comfortable... didn't do over 70.
Main Car: Hooked up Black 2000 VW Jetta GLV VR6: Loved it.. she was my baby! Still miss her like hell. Pictures!
On the Side: '89 Silver Cadillac DeVille - What can I say? It's Gangsta!!!
Now: '04 Ti Grey RX-8... Love it!!!!

I was driving a '97 Saturn SL1, about 110K miles, fine for commuting. But I'm getting ready to retire from the Navy, so after almost 20 years of getting the hand-me-down or used car, it was my turn, so I treated myself to a blue AT with Grand Touring package. I moved from San Diego where traffic sucked, so I couldn't bring myself to go with MT even though I've since moved to Indiana. It's a great car to drive!

Mine was a Chrome Yellow 1999 Mustang GT Convertible w/Eibach Pro Kit.
