What not to do to your car? Drive or park in NYC. For ONE DAMN NIGHT I parked the daily driver 2013 CX-5 on the street instead of the drive way (had to do some moving), I get a hit and run. How? No idea. An idiot that can't spot a CUV on a residential street or an equally dumb drunk driver.

Tried my best to be defensive owning a car in NY. ALWAYS parking at far end empty spaces of lots, rarely street park if possible, drive like I have paranoia, etc. That clean streak lasted a year and a half at 22,000 miles. Can't own a clean car in this city without it getting F'd up by ********. So, avoid what I do: driving and parking in NYC.

Unhappy Sorry

Sorry to read about your late model CX-5 damage, Say. Feel your pain. It's so expensive to live in NYC already without adding periodic body repair. Time to move to the South. Had a relative born and raised in NYC and didn't drive until she moved out of the city. Period. Other one parked the good car somewhere safe and bought a beater to drive that he didn't mind getting damaged. Sorry state of affairs.

Got scratches on your hood? Cover them with vents.

I wish that car was in my garage, I would push it out to the street and set it on fire.

As long as there's an AEM or similar intake they'd be functional, wouldn't they?

Well I've got a fair understanding of that, but could you explain your reasoning please? I'm still kind of confused as to why they wouldn't be functional. What "function" are we talking about exactly? At the front of the hood we have positive pressure.

I think repairing a stock hood would be far more functional, I haven't looked through all 300+ pages of this thread but my interior is probably here somewhere...

^ I think you're missing what I'm saying. Since the AEM intake replaces the massive stock intake box with a metal tube, there's a substantial amount of room freed up to evacuate hot air out of the radiator. Wouldn't the vents help get that hot air out of the engine bay, allowing a little more flow through the radiator?
