Its kinda funny how much my gas mileage has improved now that I drive a big v8
Big v8??? Lol that V8 is a joke compared to the new 5.0, hell the new 3.6L v6 makes as much hp as you

Not really... some bolt on parts & tuning and you can come pretty close... add a blower and the only thing limiting power is how often you feel like rebuilding the engine.

I admit the new one is nice, but I paid about 20K less than it would've been for a new 5.0, so Im not too upset over it

Replaced mine a while back with an 08 STI, will most likely replace the STI in a couple years for an M3 sedan.

Replaced it with 2007 Porsche Boxster S.

Originally bought the Boxster to be 3rd car, but after 4 months was never driving the 8 so I decided to sell it.

Primary reasons for choosing the Porsche were - more power, much more torque, mid-engine and convertible.

After I finish with the payments I am planning to either sell it or trade it in for a Mazda 3 hatchback.

I still have the RX-8 after 6 years, but I wanted another car payment. The RX-8 has worked well as a daily driver so I went less practical.

Awesome car. Turns out I work with Ryan (who went to get the car with you); sounds like a cool trip!

Yes it is. I bought the car at a dealer on Long Island and stopped to take some pictures around NYC before driving it home to Chicago.

I've been getting ~35 mpg on my trip to work and back with my 2010 TDI. This is something close to 50% city, 50% highway. I've been using the break in procedure detailed on the tdiclub forum with heavy load, no cruise control. Basically driving it hard.

Now that I'm close to 5,000 miles on the car, I've been trying out some things. I managed to get 42 mpg by driving a little more carefully, but still a bit over the speed limit.

The last few days I noticed that turning off the AC really does have a positive impact on fuel economy. I was able to go over 50 mpg today on the ride home. It's a 22 mile commute... so if I had a longer trip, the numbers would have been even better. If I had a longer trip and more highway, I'm sure I could break 55 mpg.
