http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2...n%20be%20done?
The title of the article is "What can be done?" and discusses teens and their misuse of seatbelts. However, they use as an example a Wrangler loaded up wiht 8 kids and the insuing deadly accident. Who's the stupid one here? Teens/Lawmakers/Journalists?

Nah, we just need to ban video games. They're just simulators to make all the kids of the world into ultra-violent mass murder machines. Seatbelts won't help when there's a kid playing Doom on your block!

ehhh, I vote for for all three
Teens...for not following basic instructions and making a simple and powerful choice of buckling up. I knew a girl that swore me to me that she would never wear a seatbelt ever again, because a friend of hers was actually choked by it in a bad accident. I wanted to slap the **** outta her.
Journalists....for making stupid stories and comments. "What can be done?" BUCKLE THE **** UP. It's that damn simple. Why must they over-complicate issues. The laws are fine..they enforce them pretty good. How about personal responsibility??? Where's that these days? People don't take enough ownership of their own crap.
Lawmakers...I got beef with these corrupt and lying ****'s. I recant my previous statement. As far as this business goes, these guys are in the clear (in my book).

Power!!
I say have the starter disabled whenever the system senses a teenage butt in the seat until the seatbelt is hooked up. Then they have to blow into a breathalyzer to start the car and if they go around a corner too fast or accelerate too hard the car will retard the power to make sure they can't hurt themselves or anyone else and then print out a ticket and email the parents. And if the parents don't respond to the ticket then the car calls the cops and throws the parents in jail for not being good parents and sends the kids to foster homes where the government will teach them how to grow up and take responsibility for their actions just like the president...er...well...maybe not...

At least half of us, probably most of out there never used seat belts as teens.
We are still alive. Look at your dad and grand-dad. Seat belts aren't the problem.
It's education and using a vechicle properly.
SEAT BELTS DO MAKE BETTER DRIVERS, NOR DO THEY MAKE YOU DRIVE BETTER.

^^^Agreed. Obviously the problem in this scenerio is the EIGHT FREAKIN' KIDS IN A JEEP! I don't think there's a minivan out there that has that many belts.

The freaking vehicle isn't designed to carry that many people. Period. The teens are complete f***ing morons. Personal responsibility. The total lack of it is the issue here. That and the need for better driver's education.

Graduated driver's license and more intensive driver's ed would be easy and logical to implement. I liked driving so much, I took Driver's ed twice (different high schools)...I believe it really helped.
I have two teenage drivers and they scare the hell out of me. My 17 yr old daughter would love to rice out a Honda...but I won't let her. Just doing my social duty.

I'm a teenager, and I don't think I've ever driven or ridden without a seatbelt, unless I was moving my car out of the garage to the driveway.
The kids are only part of the problem. The other part is parents raising stupid kids.

I'm in total agreement. It should be manditory in every state to take a certified drivers education course to get your license. Additionally I think it should be mandated that people take a driving test every 10 years or a refresher course in driver safety. How many people out there do you see every day that never use their blinkers??
The biggest problem today is the lack of proper driving ettiquette and safety practices.
