Want to see the new Kabura ROTARY powered? YOU can make it happen!

If you gusy are like me, then you probably are pretty well amazed at the newly announced Kabura. Many of you also know this car was supposed to have a rotary in it and be called the new RX-3!

Mazda needs to make a buisness case for putting the rotary in the Kabura, and YOU can make it happen!!

Go here and leave a comment!
http://rotarynews.com/node/view/758

Mazda does INDEED read these comments. Even if you dont plan to buy one, take five minutes out of your day and leave a comment to give the car its soul back... the rotary engine. The rotary is NOT out of the question!

Wonder how much it would cost with a Renesis? If it was like Mazda 3 territory I would definately buy one!

I'd rather have the 2.3L DFI engine out of the MS6, than the renesis; 'cept with a FMIC.

Can you tell me why you'd prefer to have a rotary in the Kabura? I'm quite happy with the mazda motor (its light, reliable, good MPG, cheaper and etc.). Might not be as smooth or as unique, but......

That really looks like an exaggerated take on the RX-8's design... Could be a hint at where things will go when the 8 is refreshed?

If Mazda goes with the rumored 1.5l engine (or FI, or whatever...), then yeah, rotary all the way.

It might end up as a 7 or even a 2 door 8.

Mazda Kabura Wants to Be an RX-7 When It Grows Up

Jan. 08, 2006

Is it real? Yes, and no. It’s a concept vehicle but a Mazda spokesman told us, “We really haven’t decided whether to build it or not. I say, ‘Let’s build it!' ”

What's the point? With the RX-8 sports car having limited appeal to enthusiasts because of its four doors, it’s perhaps time for Mazda to explore a high-performance coupe along the lines of the famous rotary-engine RX-7, last produced in the 1990’s. The Kabura is the embodiment of that exploration.

The company line: Mazda’s director of North American design, Franz von Holzhausen, says the Kabura concept coupe is “a nimble-looking fuselage with a powerful stance, pronounced wheel arches and taut surfaces.”

The view from here: We have missed the real RX-7 since the day it went out of production, and we would welcome Mazda’s return to high-performance sports cars (which their best-selling MX-5, nee Miata, is not).

What makes it tick? Currently, the Kabura is powered by a simple 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a manual transmission. If it goes into production, it will almost certainly use the much more powerful and sporty Renesis rotary engine.

How much, how soon? The last RX-7 sports car was criticized for its high price, so maybe the Kabura will returns as a morer affordable RX-7 replacement.

How's it look? We think the exterior of the Kabura is stunning. It simply doesn’t have any bad angles. The rear window treatment is a bit strange and the mirrors are much too small for the real driving world, but the Kabura is plenty cool. The interior, however, is a bit weird, with what Mazda calls a “3+1” seating scheme, with the right front seat moved forward to allow access for the right rear occupant.

Rotary, but more power. I love the car. I love the look from every angle. It appears to have the metal stretched over the car. It makes it appear very aggressive. The headlights kick *** too.

Well...I don't think I'd buy one but I have to take my hat off to Mazda for outstanding effort at original designs. It's very refreshing to NOT see another retro-wannabe warm-over with so-so styling. It's great to see a car company with some genuine creativity, not just weird for the sake of weird so they can call it a "concept" vehicle.

That unit looks very light, especially if siginficant attention was given to it. If that had the 8's Renesis in it, the HP/GVW ratio would be plenty high enough. 50/50 looks very possible with the placement of the Renesis, that would really make handling of this unit immaculate! I dunno why, but I keep seeng dune buggy. That's silly, I know, but that's the kind of agility (less the bump absorbtion) that I'm seeing, if you get what I mean. Inject sufficient power and this car could kick butt!

I'm thinking that for those who will not be happy until Mazda gets the old molds out of the attic and starts re-manufacturing the RX-7 as they know it - will remain just that - not happy. That's just never ever gonna happen. That's a NOT. That was a '90's sports car design and that's where it will remain. *** kickin, yes! I would love to own one that's still in tip top shape. I doubt that though. Nope, I think I will more probably be much happier with an *** kickin NEW car design.

This isn't the RX-7 of the times, no, but it's still a very nice car. With the Renesis in it, that gives Mazda more rotary "flight hours" under its belt, and that can really be a good precurser to the bigger and better things to come, which could / probably would be the next thing!!! Support this for that!!!
