Not that big of a deal guys. I had already decided to use Valvoline before I even lnew about the guarantee. If you're already using the product, why in the hell wouldn't you sign up.

Tell me one thing though about your choice to use synthetic oil. What is the advantage for you, since most everyone agrees that you should change the oil in the rotary every 3000 miles. I thought the biggest advantage for syn in most cars was that you could go 5-6000 miles between changes.

 

For the most part, I personally think you should only run synthetic if you are running the SOHN adapter. Motor oil is not designed to burn cleanly the way 2 stroke is. But if you are dead set on not running the SOHN then synthetic motor oil is better than dino oil (overall). It's base will not break down as quickly (or ever) whereas dino oil will break down very quickly. If you are the type to change your oil every 2500 miles then a good Dino oil is fine or if cost is not an issue then use a good synthetic.

But, either way doing regular oil analysis will tell how you roil is doing and then you can make adjustments as you go.

When it comes to engine oil, it really is "oil is oil", as long as it's from a reputable source. Don't think Valvoline is better or worse than Mobil1, Castrol, Pennzoil, etc.

I just grab whatever that is a name brand and on sale and change every 3000 miles.

Change interval is a lot more important.

No, I am changing my own oil. Saves me money, avoids the chance of someone else screwing it up, and also allows me to look under the car to check for any possible damage. The only time I may consider having a shop do it is if it's too cold out, but even then I can usually do it myself.

Not saying Valvoline is bad or anything, but I just don't put them before or after Pennzoil, Castrol, Mobil1, etc. Usually, it's the Pennzoil that goes on sale, so that's what I buy the most. If Valvoline oil is having a good deal at the local shop, then yeah, I will buy it.

And like someone mentioned before, the warranty is all nice and dandy until you try and use it. Even before I bought my first car and learned about cars, my friend has told me that buying a warranty for a used car is dumb. If it's free, take it, but never pay for one. If your engine breaks, good luck proving to Valvoline the oil is the cause.

Anyone who believes in warranty should watch the "You Know What's BS?" episode for it.

If you want to try it at any other car forum, be my guest. I assure you that you will receive a similar response. Anyone who's smart enough to stick around a car forum will know that warranties like this are just meaningless.

The fine print says that your car has to be bone stock, which doesn't apply to most of the 8's here. Most people use aftermarket ignition systems and/or a gutted/aftermarket-catted midpipes. Also, the fine print says you can't use your car for any competition or racing, which a bunch of people here do. I myself am planning to do some AutoX this summer. I am sure there are a bunch of other stuff that's in the fine print you didn't pick up.

Besides, 3k-mile oil changes are a cash grab on any piston engines. Most piston engines nowadays can have the oil changed every 8~10k miles and still run well.
