but if your on a 'cell' as you nice americans say then surely that an offence? in the UK that will cost you 1/4 of your licence(we have a points system) so thats gonna be added to charge!

this has just been brought in as around 98% of the UK own Mobile fones or cells and it looks like if your on a call or texting you crash more often! Amazing that! only took 3 years to work that gem out!

If you really aren't sure if it is a legit cop...you can phone 911 while you are driving to a well-lit, highly populated area and get them to send you to the dispatch person for verification that there is an undercover cop driving "insert car and color, markings, etc here." If you go ahead an pull over and the cop comes to the door, you can ask for the 800 number to their dispatch and call it, ask to see their badge and the papers to go with it, and request that you drive to a well-lit area. The cop should be more than happy to adhere to your requests, since he/she is there to uphold the law, but also protect the people. There were lots of concerns here for awhile a couple of years ago, since there were quite a few instances of "fake" cops. They started teaching this in all the defensive driving classes.

BTW, I just wrote the letter to the judge because I was angry. It was the judge that asked me to further pass it on to all of the city council members, etc. because he was also concerned about the safety of the people on the road.
