Transmission dust cover necessary?

Hey so I recently got my motor rebuilt and am in the process putting it back in. It was about 6 months ago I took it out and had a few parts go missing that either my dad threw away or they got completely lost when I moved. One of them was the dust plate that goes inbetween the transmission and motor. I was wondering if anyone has ever been able to Install the motor without using this dust plate ? I don’t want to wait another week for one to ship to me.

Which transmission auto or manual, also are you talking about the rear irons dust/flywheel peak plate or actual trans dust plate?
Either way yeah you need them.

Manuel transmission and talking about the trans dust plate , I assumed they are needed but was hoping that I could get away with not since I can’t find it anymore 😅

So maybe I was mistaken , is there not a dust shield inbetween the transmission and motor for the manual transmission rx-8s ? I’ve been watching some YouTube videos and doesn’t even look like there is one for the Manuel cars

Manuel = stereotypical Mexican man's name
Manual = requiring conscious effort on the part of the operator.

thanks for the extremely useful information!! Never would have guessed my phone would autocorrect. Or that someone would feel so insecure about themselves that they need to make pointless comments like this. For real man keep the negativity to yourself nobody on here wants to hear it.

Are you referring to the plate that mounts on top of the rear iron circled below? If so, it protects dust and debris from getting trapped behind the clutch / flywheel and /or inside the trans bell housing. On the one hand the engine will run w/out it. On the other hand ...having waited 24 wks for the rebuild..., I'd fashion or purchase and wait a week for a replacement from Mazdatrix.

Do it right, or do it again.
