I would always pick a 2WD with winter tires than an AWD with all seasons.
I used to live in Toronto and there are lots of folks getting by with winter tires on their RWD cars. I've seen my share of over-confident (delusional) AWD drivers skidding off ramps or dived onto ditches in inclement weather.
In short distances, AWD will help in acceleration, but beyond that not by much. You can see it in races that are over the 1/8 mi versus the 1/4 mi. Most, if not all AWD cars, are overtaken by cars that are either RWD or FWD because of the weight factor...unless they have the power to off set the weight, it's not likely they will win. However, in the daily driven environment and in between stop lights, yes, it does wonders. As for weather, it really depends on the driver and how he/she drives. Just my .02 cents.

Anyway, as for your choice, congratulations on your purchase. I would consider one, but I'm getting a little tired of my 3's hatchback body style.

i've driven my 8 in the snow for 4 years now... as long as there are only a couple inches on the road your relatively fine. Any more then that and you get screwed pretty quickly.

Welcome to the Speed3 club. Which color did you get? Did you get the GT or Sport? I've had mine for 4 months now without even a bit of buyers remorse. I don't miss the RX8 or Mustang GT at all.

More car for the money overall, and a very luxuurious machine, but no doubt if the deals were better on the Speed 3, I'd likely own one. Glad you got the car you wanted.

The Speed 3 is lighter, faster (because it's lighter) sportier car, and most certainly more fun, and less of a compromise then you'd have had if you had gotten a Speed 6. You did well. ENJOY!!!!
well it is a 04 sti, i would consider it because of the suspension and the 5x100. but damn i would not trade a 05+ for MS3. MS3 is faster than wrx stock vs stock. but a simple stage 2 sti its much much better than MS3 IMO. AWD with the bullet proof tranny. STi FTW.

but MS6 is a great car, i like it. fits 5 people with out leg rubbing and is fast.
