Whats with the black bumpers on the red car. Is it supposed to be just like the ricers that couldnt afford to paint their aftermarket body kit?

This car shouldn't be compared to what many of you are saying. Check the price tag of a little over 12k. Thats for the base model i'm sure but still...

The price given and the fact that its an 86 is to me great. There will be tons of after market parts and with a price range like that some one who wants to get into drifting doesnt have to buy a 10+ year old car, or something that takes alot alot of loving ( rx8 ).

This is great for the drift community, mainly the younger of it whom dont have much money. As long as toyota does a good job of recreating the success it had with the older 86.

Just my opinion of course.

Personally i feel ppl should get old used cars first when they want to learn to drift. when i got into drifting (okinawa japan) at 16 my first RWD car was 86 trunk Trueno. after a year experience i ended up getting 92 FC for graducation present from my mom (nice lady she is). but i highly recommend getting used car first for this type of driving.

You may well be right.

But i myself whom is looking for a car atm, ( only 17 ) cant find anything reliable enough to be my day to day driver as well as a car i can drift and practice with. With my job i'll have enough money for tires and before i start anything suspension upgrades. However.. i cant deal with having numerous engine troubles.

But maybe i'm just asking for too much by wanting a car with less then 50k miles on it.. 240 being my main choice. Also... 15k price limit.

you may laugh at me, but i think Miata 94-97 is awesome car. i like that over s-13 and 14. its easy to handle and cheap and reliable. and it comes with LSD make sure you put row bar though if you ever get a miata . this is not my car btw

miata is a nice car.

however.. i'm taller then 6ft

its... too small haha.

question though, being that you have/are residing in japan.

How difficult is it to ship a car from there to the states ? i have a friend who will mark me off for emissions so thats not a worry, cuz something like an s15 would be really nice.

And does the rx8 need alot of tuning and mods to be drift ready ? i personally never driven it but i was told that it does. Its the one thing straying me from getting it.

Ty for any answers you may have.

stock rx8 is drift ready. has lsd . only thing i would recommend is supension. but i never really tried to drift in the 8. i had a miata for that.
as for shipping, it gets pretty expensive. before i moved to US i wanted to ship car with me. but then my dad told me how much it would cost, i changed my mind fast. but that was back in 97. so i do not know if its still expensive, but if it hasnt changed , i would just buy a car here in US.

i guess S13-14 is your best bet lol but yah s15 is the only silvia i ever liked

RWD and super light-weight? It's an autocross dream! Count me in. It would probably also get great mileage. And I think it looks pretty nice too. Maybe put some "freestyle" doors for the occasional time I bring my small passengers (kids)?

If this car existed right now, it would be somewhere at the top of my list for cars to test drive.

Just a heads up, apparently making a joke about cars having sex is a bannable offense around here. Perhaps monkey sex is ok, but Miatas having gay sex is not. I don't think RX8club has a moderator that's a monkey so you might be ok...
I'll be crawling back into the shadows now.

P.S. Making all kinds of derogatory gay remarks and jokes in a thread about the RX-8 being gay car of the year is ok as well.
