thinking of retireing the 8

Okay heres the deal, landed a new job and on my first paycheck i get quite a nice size bonus. I have a few things I need to buy such as new living room and bedroom furniture however I am thinking about spending the rest of it on a "new" daily driver and keeping the 8 for weekends only.

The reason that makes me not want to is that it would be a little crazy owning 4 cars. Right now I have the 8, and project 2nd gen camaro and a 2000 bonneville that I gave to my fiance after she totaled hers (she didnt have collision coverage).

Am I stupid to want to buy another car? or should I go ahead and do it, I already know the exact car I would get but I'll just leave it at that because most of you probably would not like it lol.

1 - The 8 is a great DD as it is

2 - 4 cars would be a bit much

3 - I'm sure you could pay down something else instead, or more mods for the 8

4 - this:

my 3 current cars are paid off, as well as all of my credit cards. (for the most part at least I think one has a few hundred on it). and yes I thought about going FI as well but I would def need a motor rebuild because I'm at 82k miles

And I am leaving the car I would get blank as to just hear what is said about the idea of it not go get this or go get that. I would buy a good used FD (as it would not matter about how many seats) but I just dont know about that

RIWWP said it all allready, to be honest. Don't really need a fourth, and why deny yourself time with the '8?

The 8 will be a sorta project (small upgrades here and there) if I get a new DD.

the camaro I have is mostly just body work right now that isnt really using up much money as its mostly labor right now.

the 8 wouldnt take much time as a "project" as it is solid and not falling apart, the only thing I would do is add different mods to it (FI would be nice but not in the foreseeable future)

silly to have two project cars sitting there unused. Either drive the 8 as DD or ditch it (or something else) for a new DD.

or.... you could just save the money...

Get a cheap DD, sell the 2 unused car and use the money to project the 8.

Best advice is just save the money.

all good ideas!

i do think 4 cars is a bit much. while the 2 "project" cars are vastly different, unless you're banking quite a bit in addition to this bonus check, i wouldn't advise having 2 project cars. you could get a cheap but decent DD for your fiance and get rid of the bonneville, blah.

but yeah unless the 8 isn't holding up, i'd say save it, invest it, take a trip, or use it to replace the bonneville, but not get an ADDITIONAL car...

Yes my annual salary is quite nice, I would not be hurting at all by any means so money is not an option. I'm having my 401k set up to take out 20% every pay check (with the company matching a certain percent). I also have a bank account with a set amount of money put away that I never touch (pure emergency money).

As far as getting rid of the bonneville we bot agreed on waiting on that just a little while longer as the car is in excellent shape still and has many miles left. we were going to get her something new when she gets out of school next year.

Voted a big Don't Do It.

With the money you'd spend on any kind of quality "DD" you could easily afford a rebuild with new Apex seals and a Pettit SC upgrade.

Now imagine your 8 in that condition against whatever "Nissan" you were thinking about getting. Hahahahaha. The 8 would rule, the others would drool.

Do you own your own house? Is every single thing you want to repair/change on it done? If you answered no to either questions then what you should do with the money is pretty obvious.

Cars depreciate, property (the last 4 years are a bad example) appreciates.
