Wat da F!? We can't even drive faster than 30 mph in areas cuz those retarded morons never bothered to "look" before they put their foot out on the road.
and most highways in NY is 55 or less. Cuz again retarded people can't drive for ****. I see them every freaking day !

If it's the same toll road stretch I'm thinking about, that's awesome. It's already 80, so now I can legally do 85. Toll roads in Austin is popping up quickly and they are usually are empty...no one likes paying for them.

maybe they should ask people to actually look at the stupid roads before they cross ? I think that will be helpful
and they don't even talk about how dangerous all these people on bikes are. dashing around the roads like they owned them. jesus. when you hit them , your fault, if they hit you, it's STILL your fault. don't even ask me how I know.

Funny, we were just discussing this in the SARX lounge. I routinely take the Toll way around Austin on my way to my parents house and it's already an 80MPH speed limit and it's 75MPH on I-35 in some places and 80MPH on I-10 West outside of San Antonio. And I should add that I have never seen a cop on the Toll Way and I take it at least once a month.

My entire family outside of two cousin and my immediate family lives in the NYC/Jersey area and my dad left when he was 18 and never returned. He has no clue why they stay in NY. But I guess it's tough to leave what you know.

Germany's Autobahns don't even have a speed limit on cars, and it's apparently safer than US limited freeways.
"The overall road traffic safety of German autobahns is comparable to that of other European highways. According to the statistics collected by the International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group,[12] there were 2.2 road user fatalities per billion vehicle kilometers on German autobahns in 2008. Using the same statistic, 4.5 fatalities have occurred in the United States on motorways."

I'm in Austin, as well.
Here's something to ponder... you can take defensive driving for less than 25mph over the speed limit in Texas... meaning, in an 85mph zone, you can do 110mph and can get out of the ticket.

NY is garbage. I hate it. I just got pulled over for two speeding tickets in the last 5 weeks. For DOING 70 MPH!!! And i was going with the flow of traffic. Cops must have red car syndrome.... My first speeding tickets in 7 years. That doesnt include the 4 times ive been pulled over in the last 8 weeks for my red parking lights. I went years without a problem...now all of a sudden they are attracted to me like magnets.
Honestly... i cannot wait to leave this pitiful state.

I mean hell.... no point in driving a sports car in NY. The speed limits here dont scale with car technology. WTF is the point of owning an RX8 or ANY sports car for that matter in NY...when your suspension falls apart and your bolts rattle off, and you blow tires and dent rims from potholes...and you cant even drive it like it was designed. WTF is the point! I cant wait to move to FLorida.

For those that have never been there, this tollway that is going to 85 mph was built way east of civilization out in the middle of nowhere. That's why there are never lots of cars on it. Then again the new F1 track is being built off of it! Texas won't put a speed limit this high in a congested area. You can't just randomly assign any speed limit to any road and expect it to work. In Houston all the freeway limits are 60-65 but with traffic you are lucky to ever get up to it depending on which freeway you are on. In other places traffic regularly flows at 80 mph.
Keep in mind that Montana had no speed limit years ago but that was done away with because car clubs kept showing up to the state to do top speed runs on public roads. People from other states ruined it for those who lived there. I've seen speed limits go up and down here. They've gone from 55 to 65 to 75 then back to 70 then back down to 60 and up again. Each time people argue that the roads will be safer. There is one consistent element to all of them. People still die in car accidents. I have no doubt that 85 will last a few years and then they'll change it again. Probably because too many people will be going to defensive driving for going 110.

I went to my Grandmother's funeral last year in Plainview, TX. It was about 20 miles from the funeral home to the cemetary... I had a hard time keeping up with the hearse driver with my crappy rental car on the long straight country roads... he was going about 95 mph most of the way.
the coolest thing though was everyone we passed pulled over and stopped and let us pass, even the cops...
