pking1122 12-02-2011 01:14 PM

Does it come with a rotary option?

9krpmrx8 12-02-2011 01:15 PM

Which mean close to 30k with dealer markup. No thanks.

ShinkaEvo 12-02-2011 02:19 PM

Key difference between BRZ and GT-86/FSR is spring rate....ok...
The more I look into those 2 cars, the more I like my 8. :)

Second thought, they feel like revised tc to me now....same marketing..

9krpmrx8 12-02-2011 02:28 PM

I'm not a huge fan of either but having a RWD sports car enter the market is a good thing for all of us. These cars have potential, just wait for Pro Drive or TRD gets ahold of one.

Dealer markup is only for suckers beta testers first year buyers.

RIWWP 12-02-2011 02:37 PM

I'm liking. No mention of a more stripped version? Like base + performance adds (like brakes) without the added weight of non-track stuff like nav.

^ Just get the FR-S rumored to be ~$21K range, do the rest yourself. There's bound to be mods galore.

Here's what I'd do with the e-cheapo Scion version...

1. 2-pc lightweight rotors all around w/SS brake lines (~$1200)
2. TRD supercharger (~$2500?) <<<<<-------------------------------this was the other 'big' possible news!
3. Take the front vents out etc., stick in the roll cage (~$1000?) <<<<---purpose built for it from TRD
4. Import the gauge cluster from the GT-86 / ditch the radio (~$500?)
5. Get whosever racing seats and ditch stock (~$2000?)
6. Add BRZ spoiler (~$500)
7. Some 17" 15lbs racing wheels (~$1000)
8. Coilovers (~$2000)

Total cost: ~$31,700

Spin9k 12-02-2011 03:19 PM

...ummm 1.6l TURBO or SC (that was easy - we don't even have the car to buy yet lol)

SC...

TURBO

RIWWP 12-02-2011 03:25 PM

Yeah, except ill never send my money to toyota again on moral principle, even if that isnt the logical choice or they have a car worthy enough. :)

9krpmrx8 12-02-2011 03:38 PM

Gotta love PS.

pdxhak 12-02-2011 05:22 PM

Yeah, you have to love the Porsche wheel/tire package

Roidz 12-03-2011 11:36 AM

Don't get me wrong, it's a very good photoshop 9k, just not sold on the looks of the car.

TeamRX8 12-03-2011 11:48 AM

better get your eyes checked, might have to trade in my Civic Si for one ...

Same mood with you, that's why we own an 8!

Spin9k 12-03-2011 01:25 PM

Right now it's just a new car beauty contest. I like it, I don't like it. However, the aim of producing a fun, affordable, tuneable sports car platform similar to the MX-5, or late RX-8, and others - has come into being. Who would argue that's a bad target? I want more people to buy sports cars. That way we'll get more of them!

Although a small sample, fans agree on the aim http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2295

Exactly.
Can't understand why folks don't get this.

I do not like the clear tails and was thinking it would look better red. Here is PS someone did at ft86 and it looks better. I can see it being a popular mod like it is with the STi crowd.

I agree.
hopefully they will have a turbo option available later on. I'm sure this car will be well received by tuner companies, and the car enthusiast crowd.

pdxhak 12-03-2011 06:01 PM

There is a STi concept so hopefully that is a sign Subaru will release a FI version. Also TRD is working on a Supercharger for the FRS.

monchie 12-03-2011 11:58 PM

The wheel gap is horrendous, but overall, the look is alright.

The price is just right. I was guessing that it will be above 30k.
