Spotted: Ferrari Mondial

what the heck is a ferrari mondial? I saw one today and i must say it looked shoddily put together. The convertible top didnt fit while it was down, the bumper and quarter panels didnt sit flush with eachother. Looks like a 328 almost but cheaper. Anyone know anything about these?

The Ferrari Mondials...

...were the V-8 powered 2+2s of Ferrari's model line between the years of 1980 to 1989. To the present, they are the last V-8 powered 2+2s Ferrari has offered. They were not very elegant to look at nor were they very well built. They were offered in coupe and convertable types. In general, the Mondials, along with the 308/328/348 series of sports cars, were not the best products to come out Maranello. During this time, Ferrari had horrid quality control and manufacturing standards. About the only saving grace of these cars were the engines, but even then, they are notoriously hard to work on and keep in tune and their performance were never up to "the Ferrari" standard.

There were a couple of versions of the Mondial built, but Ferrari could never "build-out" the car's problems nor make the Pininfarinna design look good.
