Smile Spotted an Audi R8 today

I have been traveling home from NM over the past two days, and was on my last leg of the trip headed east on interstate 70 between Columbia and St.Louis MO when I spotted an Audi R8 headed west-bound in oncoming traffic. Wow...what a great looking car!! I could see it coming in the distance, and the headlights were a dead giveaway as they are very different than anything else out there. Even so, at first I thought it was possibly a Bugatti Veryon then realized that it had the side blades and rear grillsat the back of the car on each side. I don't think these cars are available to the general public yet, but perhaps they are now. If nothing else I suppose it could have been a test mule.

When I got home a little later I found I had a new issue of C&D, and low and behold there the R8 was on the cover!! Nice article, and an awesome car!! The interior color scheme of the R8 in the mag looks a lot like the Shinka with a sand and piano black accent trim package.

I wouldn't know how to react if I saw one on the streets. It's definitely a hot car. It's on the cover of R&T this month. Saw a price comparo, and for about $20k less, I may pass for a Porsche C4S.

Yep...sorry guys for not providing any pics, but thanks CarAndDriver for providing the links!!

It is a great looking car, but in that price range there are lots of other options for sure.

I didn't know they were even for sale yet??
Reguardless, the R8 is hawtness. Especially if you get the bi-turbo V8 with over 450-hp and DSG trany. Suppa fast!

Lotus does not make the Esprit at the moment, even if they did beware of fires, my uncle's caught fire on the lift at the dealer one time. I would take the R8 in its price range in a minute, they are going to be a car you do not see all the time, hell I would take the R8 over a F430, I see way too many of them on a daily basis.

R8 is a hot car, but the front end looks a little "busy" for me. I prefer the more classic lines of the 911 or even a Corvette!

You can get the "Blades" body color, CF, or contrasting color.

I think the whole "blade" concept is too gimmicky and detracts from the overall appearance. I love the front, but am undecided on the rear. Its a somewhat conservative design for a "supercar." Has anyone seen pics of the upcoming A5 & S5? I like. Hey Riggs, care to discuss your Cayman? 359 at the wheels?

it seems like the price for having functional holes on a sports car sky-rockets the actual price...

Damn with 120K I could have 6 "used" RX - 8's... Or 4 really fast ones...
