SPEED channel dropped WRC! Sign the programming petition!
I can't believe this. I was so pumped to watch the Monte Carlo rally this weekend. I even bought a TiVo so I could record all this season's WRC events that air at strange hours. It was on SPEED's programming schedule a few weeks ago. Now it's gone and in its place are hours of NASCAR races from the past and present. Sign the petition and cancel SPEED channel if you're pissed. This is crap.
It's truly a sad day when a so called "car guy network" cancels one of the rawest forms of racing in the world and fills the time slot with NASCAR clips from 1978. It's not enough that we have to watch cars go around in circles for 3 hours, but now their drivers are wearing bell-bottoms and sporting lamb chops.

Small surprise. Speed Channel (previously Speedvision) was bought out by the group that owns FOX media a couple of years ago; ever since then, the quality of their international motorsports coverage has gone to toilet. First, Two Wheel Tuesday dropped the GP races; then, the BTCC series was dropped; then, the WRC stuff was pushed farther and farther out of prime time until last season, when it tended to show around 11:00 PM in most zones. Awful.
Their coverage is also slipping - the F1 coverage is awful; the commentary on the 24 hours at Le Mans is hideous; their commentary on some of the SCCA stuff makes you want to cry it's so bad. I think I'd watch most of the racing with the mute button on for the voiceover, if I could.
NASCAR is a huge cash cow in the US, so round and round and round it goes - and since FOX wants a slice of the NASCAR pie, they get rid of anything that gets in the way. The NASCAR run-offs and spin-offs are similarly profitable. World of Outlaws? Give me a break. Dirt track racing is irritating. Don't get me wrong - NASCAR can be kind of funny to watch from time to time, but then if Speed Channel is just interested in NASCAR, then it should be renamed the NASCAR Channel and stop with the charade that it shows all sorts of motorsports.
I used to be a big fan of Speed Channel - now I'm sort of glad that it's on the deep end of the cable dial so that it takes me so much longer to click to more boring NASCAR stuff.

I hate NASCAR.
Although speed's F1 coverage is golden compared to the crap coverage by whichever dumbass network covered 4 races last season... idiots trying to explain F1 to 'mericuns in NASCAR terms they understand.

SPEED Channel aired bobsleding a few days ago. Last time I checked, it didn't have an engine in it. This is so retarded. I think I'll end my subscription to that channel now. Speedvision was so good, now it's everything Nascar. I hate Nascar. It gives me headaches.

the future of nascar, it being a dumbass sport for dumbasses will have an actual passenger/navigator. (no offense if you like this crap, but chances are if you own an 8 you probably dont like nascar)
That'd be hilarious to see the passenger sit there with a map going "left.... left.... left...... left..... left...." for 500 laps.
I used to watch Speedvision a great deal, especially GT races when audi s4's dominated by galati/pobst, but now I have to do searches over the internet to see who the heck won.
I used to look foward to rally races but after fox took it over, those races would come on during midnight and I had to work the next day. I've resorted to downloading rally videos off bit torrent.
I hate Nascar so much, the best is when they have a 40 car pile-up and a tire flies into the stands hitting an inbred in the mullet. Best is when they replay it in slow-mo to see his beer and racoon snacks flying all over the place.

Just the other day I turned to Speed (because I had a bit of hope left for that network) and saw these off-road cars drifting around a dirty oval...
15 seconds later I flipped back to 'everybody loves raymond'

Who's willing to bet that a wealthy person that is an equally obsessed fan of all things motorsports, (except anything Nascar) can start up their own television channel like Speedvision and get just as big a viewer base as the current SPEED channel?

Little bit of humor intended there gents. Although typical Republican states are in the mid west and south and we all know Nascar has a fairly large following south of the Mason Dixon.
Given that most Nascar watchers would not be coming to an RX-8 board either.

funny i watch nascar im neither dumb( i can speak quite well) inbred nor a hick. i dont eat "racoon snacks" i am quite intelligent also a republican. i like F1 WRC NHRA Drag Racing Indy Racing Grand Am racing even that Star Mazda series is pretty good. And if you havent been to your local dirt track for a night of racing you are no race fan. I own an RX-8 and have been on this board since before the car came out. I wouldnt sign the petition now if you begged me and im thinking about calling all my Nascar watching family and having them get in touch with speed and thanking them for getting rid of the WRC coverage and having in its place more Nascar coverage.
i also know that not a damn one of you could drive a car in the nascar series anywhere near competently and competitively. Drive at 200 mph on banked tracks for 500 miles and see how "non athletic" you can be. Dale Earnhardt was a hell of a driver and if your not believing that check his IROC record. See for yourselves how many IMSA CART FIA SCCA etc drivers lost to him and other Nascar IROC competitors. better yet watch some of those races and see for yourself. they'll probably run them on Speed. There are /were a hell of alot of good racers in NASCAR. get of your high horses the bunch of you.

But, do we need nascar 20 hours a day, interrupted only by programs like chop cut rebuild, pinks and infomercials? No.
That petition got over 1000 signatures since I signed it this morning. Crazy.
