congrats on the new car! waiting for reviews...

the greddy upgrade kits for the mr2 turbos were known to have failing internal wastegate doors. some owners would even find the door in their cat during teardown. i'd like to know the details of your engine mishap too. consider an external wg perhaps?

Damn.... I guess another drive to MD is in the cards to go pick up this turbo kit.... JK, well.... I think I'm JK... I'll be looking for the FS thread and researching what is involved with the install.

Curious as to why you would keep the 8 though. Just planning on modding it for track use? It's going to kill you when you feel how slow it is compared to the Turbo and the BMW. Plus knowing you, you're going to lose your mind and wallet again modding that 1.

Go crazy on the BMW and close the RX-8 chapter of history.

i won't be modding the 135i for awhile. maybe little cosmetic stuff here and there. don't tempt me guys, that's how i ended up getting the turbo for the 8!!

i'm going back to n/a on the 8 cause it's just more reliable that way. the few times i took it to the track, i wasn't able to fully enjoy the event. always keeping my eye on a/f ratio, engine temp, etc. etc. kept me from concentrating on the main point, having fun at the HPDE. i actually don't mind the power of a n/a RX8, it's actually more fun, it's not often you get to bounce the rev limiter at 9300 rpm

but yea, maybe it's because i work on BMW's, the idea of modding these cars isn't really appealing to me. i won't do much aftermarket mods for it, probably will stick to BMW performance parts/DINAN if i ever decide to hook it up.

I dont know about in the US but in Aus for $20k more I would expect that the 135i > RX-8.

he said the MSRP was $43k, the MSRP for my 8 was $38k. thats 5k in difference. and i wouldnt call that a huge difference due the better leatherspeakers, and interior components that bmw uses.

idk personal opinion, but for that price id get a hot 335Ci. maybe the convertible. since you modded the 8 you want a cruising car, and the convertible is definately made for that

but no worries, i'm not leaving this club. i'm still obsessed with my 8.
What boost were you running ?
have you checked your hoses to the actuator ? - would think that is a more likely cause

Not a fan of BMW in general, but I approve of the 135 in white with black interior. Enjoy.

stock boost (6-7psi) i never altered the boost settings. i checked all the vacuum lines and everything is ok. only thing that i can think of is the wastegate actuator.

the 335Ci is almost 10k more with all the options i got on the 135i. i hate convertibles too, more moving parts = more prone to breaking. the hard top convertible roof on the E93 is insane, i would hate to have problems with that. plus, my monthly payment on that thing would be over $700!!!
