smart choice or not?

A friend of mine is trying to sell his 2005 scion tc (TRC exhaust, TRC intake, Chassy lights, 3000 watt amp + sub, manual) for a 2000 chevy camaro z28......Obviously the horsepower is a huge difference in this case but is it really worth it?

I'd go for it if I was him. Yeah, the Camaro has a horrible interior and might not be the sexiest car, but the LS1 is an amazing engine. Very easy to mod and make huge power. Plus, RWD>FWD.

Is it going to be a DD? If so, I'd say don't do it...

the engine may be huge, but you've got to live with the inside a lot as well...

Don't do it. Power is there and mods come easy, but while the engine/tranny may hold nicely, the body has many flaws. I've had to change headlight motors like crazy, window motors die quickly, seats are crap and don't last, etc, etc. I would say keep the newer car and don't buy a fast car that will end up costing a lot of money in upkeep.

Honestly the interior isn't that bad. I used to have a 94 Camaro, and I never even noticed the interior quality until I got my 8. If your friend is looking for all out power, I'd say go for it. If its supposed to be a reliable, daily-driven comfort car, maybe not.

The car itself is reliable and can be DD and still reliable, but what suffers are the aesthetics of the car and other small things which don't really effect drivability; but those little things will annoy you.

i still dont get why people mod the tc its like modding a corolla y bother?

Get the camaro if its in good shape, if youve never felt a V8 pull effortlessly from 2k rpms from 30-80mph off an onramp you should try it.

obviously a lot of you dont undestand the great base the TC powerplant gives you to mod the 2AZ-FE is a great engine and has plenty of potential....I think you mean TRD parts not TRC...

Tell your friend to boost the TC no supercharger since the TuRD sucks, but with a nice bolt on turbo kit minus the Greddy Its crap he will have a whole whole nother beast....

haha at modding a tc is like modding a corolla....

My turbo TC made 308whp at 327 ft. lb of tq at 10lbs on a 16g turbo with some supporting mods, with meth injection which never got tuned on i was going for 14lbs 350+whp it was an STI, EVO killer.....

I miss my TC like crazy and plan on one day building one as soon as i graduate college

if you doubt me youtube some videos...ill post up some of my videos if you want

A modded TC vs a modded sti/evo, the sti or evo should win. Maybe from a roll the TC could win. But realistically, you can get more out of an evo or sti.

Any evo/sti i raced with bolt ons and stage 2 flash i would beat from a roll yes, sometimes pretty bad depending on the driver ha.......yes you could get more power out of an evo/sti no doubt but the cost ratio is way different with the tc your talking about slapping on a bolt on turbo kit a few supporting mods that should be done anyway and getting a tune....Evo/Sti your talking about a lot of upgrades to a 30k car such as fuel, turbo, cooling, all big money to achieve say 100+ plus more hp hopefully getting the car near 400whp and then subies have known tranny issues at such hp, hell way under that....and we all know about the 4g issues....

yeah, it would cost more, but I still wouldn't say it's comparable. If I had my choice between those 3 cars, the evo seems like the obvious one to me (though I guess it depends which generation you're talking about). Honestly, I like the older audi S4's with the bi-turbo 2.7L... But I guess we're a tad off topic here.

I wouldn't go for the camaro... Just a personal preference. Now if we were talking about the new camaro, then I'd definitely go for it

racing from a roll is as stupid as p0wning in the twisties.

It's just what ricers do.

I'd be fine if I never hear either one of those two things ever again.

racing from a roll or owning in the twisites is just all different type of thrill....

and out of the three cars i would much rather have an evo/sti too, but i had a tc and i built something from what i had to work with, i was 16 turning 17 at the time getting my tc after totaling my celica gt-s and so the money wasnt there to buy a 30k evo/sti.....But this kid already has a ncie platform to work with and those low compression 2az-fe motors take to boost very well...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting the choice.. I know that we can't always get the car we'd want. I just see too many people saying stupid stuff like "why would you get that when you can get <car that can be made as good for cheaper>?". Like I could probably get my 8 to be as fast as a viper, but I wouldn't say they'd be comparable by any means. I know you weren't trying to do that, but it kind of sounded like that's what you were going for at first.

Do you only do drag races mitch? F1 has a lot of twisties... is that ricer racing as well? Or are you only talking about on the streets? Cause then that's just all around a bad idea...

Racing from a roll is exclusively mutual to FWD vehicles street racing, I don't think I need to elaborate any further.

P0wning the twisties is a term I've only heard from fellow RX-8 members, mainly to justify their choice of sports car when people with faster cars criticizes the RX-8's speed. They mainly come from people that actually don't track their cars at all. It's not only getting annoying, it also makes the person saying it appear small, immature, and lacking self confidence.

So if I don't hear any of these two sayings on the internet again, the world will be a better place.

I've heard twisties on the s2000 forum before but honestly I never use the term as it sounds stupid.

If I had the choice I'd rather get the tc and mod it...who cares if its a chic car...a 2000 camaro is the equivalent of driving a trans am wearing a t shirt with the sleeves cut off...ur gonna look like joe dirt man

I think the last gen Camaro still looks sharp and the engine is great, but not surprised it falls apart really quickly.

Who would even buy a Scion TC other than girls and clueless guys? That car is the new Acura Integra without Honda's suspension magic.
