Sleeper STI on Tuner Transformation

I just finished watching Tuner Transformations on SPEED channel. The show just redeemed itself after their abomination of the RX-8.

On it they took a Subaru STI and did to it exactly what I would like to do if I owned one.

Retuned the ECU.
New Intercooler.
Added intake.
Added Exhaust.
Installed a rear swaybar.
Upgraded brakes.

Then they painted the stock rims black and swapped a base model hood and trunk lid with the regular STI's.

Total sleeper car.

Just thought I would share and if this is a repost I appologize.

Upgraded brakes??? It comes with Brembos, I'm guessing you mean stuff like SS lines, motul fluid etc.

I can't believe they painted thise beautiful BBS wheels, I hope they got it professionally done and it was a black car.

There are a couple black FMICs available for the WRX/STi as well, and it looks really mean. Did they use the black?

When is this show on? I missed both the rx8 and sti episodes.Saw the weak auto m3 episode.
I dont know if mine was an Sti i think id leave as so. Sleeper would be 02 03 wrx no sti available over here in that body style.
With the car being out longer /more parts it is fairly easy to make faster than the Sti.

The sleeper i want is a miata with 5.0 swap:D

I think they took the cahones out of the car. Why spend 30k on a car your buying for only one reason, then strip it down to look like a 7k cheaper car. I'll admit the upgrades were nice, but still. They kept the old calipers and put in SS lines and cross-drilled discs. However, I think that they are gonna run into problems with the new exhaust. The STI boards are flooded with posts about boost-creep issues with any more freely-flowing exhaust is pu on. Since I didn't see any external wastegate or porting the original internal one and not to mention they uped the boost and retuned the computer, I think there may be some future damage to the engine there. All in all though still fun to watch.

You retune the comp.Cause of the upped boost, to avoid engine problems.Anytime you mod a car/or drive it hard its gonna have future problems you just tune it right . Put that future as far out there as you can.

Normally correct, but in the STI's case, wrong. The internal wastegate flange is too small to flow more than the stock boost. For some reason putting a free flowing exhaust on the thing, even without upping the boost, tend to boost-creep. There is NO tuning that can solve this problem as it is a mechanical issue that can only be resolved by porting the wastgate or replacing the system completely with a new turbo and external wastegate.
