Shaking at high RPM

I was wondering if some one can help me. I have a 04 RX-8 with only 45K on it. Just the other week my 8 was acting up at me. Some times when i would pass 5K RPM the car would shake. Can anyone help?

Sounds like you need a wheel balance....if it only does it at that speed or in between a certain mph , say like 45-60mph then get smooth before that or after that speed, i would bet the farm that you will need a wheel balance.

If your car constantly shakes after that speed and continues, you may have bigger problems and would need to get your car checked out imediately.

Sounds identical to a problem my friend had with his Celica - turns out his wheels were almost bald. He replaced them and instantly, problem solved.

either wheel(s) bent, tire(s) not balanced, or need alignment.

especially if it happens when u go fast. most likely wheel(s) bent and/or tires.

When my friend would hit about 80mph his car would start shaking, then after he reached about 100 it would smooth out. 2004 Celica GTS IIRC.

Yeah, I think it's the tires as well. I had the same issue once; at 65MPH I was shaking mildly and start to worry thinking something else was wrong. Needless to say, getting to work at 80 mph became a normal occurance just to avoid the shaking. Until I blew a tire (dontwannatalkaboutit). Now that the tires are replaced and she's balanced, no shaking.
