I really don't like the S2K's -- not a fan of little tiny sports coupes. The 350Z has made some strong appearance changes this year. A 2005 RX-8 can be had for a very good price.

I'm glad you asked this question though. No one has actually ever wondered whether or not an S2K or 350Z was better than an 8.

By the way, I was being sarcastic. Well, duuuuuuuuuuh.

I just change over from a 03 Z to a 05 8, i have to say that the Z is way faster on straight. But coner 8 wins.

and i have have to say my Z looks way better than my 8 now... lol
hope that in the future my 8 would looks better

If you need 4 seats. Go with the 8.

If you need 4 seats and torque get a Mustang GT.

Z's and mustangs are a dime a dozen though. If you want to see your car every 2 mins by one of these.

Every time I see another 8 I'm like wow, shocked, cool. I actually saw a silver one this morning windows all tinted up, was kinda cool.

(well, if I expanded my fleet of cars from 2 to about 6 or 7 there might be room for an impractical 2-seater, but it would probably be something classy like a `67 vette)

jonyjoe - be at peace with your choice. You have the best looking 4-door, 4-seater automobile ever made and I'll bet you got quite a deal on it. Half the dorks who "think" they're faster in their S2000 or 350Z are likely to be incompetent drivers at best (junvenile asshats is another term we use) so even with better cars you would be "faster" if you were irresponsible enough to run WOT through the streets.

Enjoy!
Seat Space-wise it is very practical but its still not as convenient as a true 4 door and I hate the "must open front door to open rear door thing" because everytime someone steps out of the rear, I have to remind people to close the rear before the front and make sure the front is not in the way already. It worries me.

Yes it has huge trunk space but big luggages still can't make it through.

But I love it the way it is although I was looking for a 2 seater in the first place.

I had same questions as yourself before I purchased my rx8. I personaly don't like the look of s2000 they are too small for me. I do like the 350z but cost of car and insurance is expensive. Also they are too big for me without adding seating capacity, I like the look of 'short-roof' cars like the rx8.

Also, living here in DC I do not get much chance to take my car on high speeds and if you do want a car just for speed or drag racing purposes , I suggest you either custom build a muscle car or buy one that has 700+ HP.

rx8 - 300hp with greddy turbo hopefully no blown apex seals with good tuning, but all round nicer car than both of the above, better looking too IMO
Numbers are way off. The Comptech, or any other form of FI for the S2000 is easily over $5K (for just the unit), not $3K. Also once you get to 375-400 whp on the 350Z prepare for bottom end reinforcement as at that level it will give out sooner rather than later.

Everything else is true. Those were the cars I was loking at, but it came down to the Infiniti G35 & RX8.

Honestly, if your priority is to get more power out of a car with mods then buy a factory FI car or an american V8. Otherwise if you're not happy with the power stock it's probably best to buy something else.

Before I bought my RX8 in 2004, I seriously test drove the S2000 and 350Z. I was very seriously considering the S2000 except the cockpit was very tight for me (6'3") and there was absolutely no storage room. The 350Z was faster straight line but was not very agile in my opinion. Once I test drove the RX8, I had to have it. Since I have added the Greddy turbo which has turned the car into something I never expected which makes me anxious to drive every day.

if the s2000 had rear seats I would get it over the 8, otherwise a 2 seater is too impractical for me.

this is an easy response...
you want a sports car, all three of these arre similar performers
if you want a back seat get an rx8
if you want to have a lot of torque get the 350Z
if you want a no frills performance package get the s2k.

I'm surprised no one mentioned reliability.

RX8 - engine flooding, poor mpg.
350Z - tire feathering (need to replace tires every 5000 miles).
S2000 AP2s- ?

I haven't heard much about the S2k's problems, but I know that issues with the 8 and the Z has scared me from purchasing them.

Engine flooding is hardly an issue, just way overblown.

MPG does suck.

S2000s are reliable, imo, I frequently see s2ks running well at 80k+ miles
