I can't say what good it does to know this but I've beaten a 300 of unknown trim with my Grand Am. But then again it was a short distance race on a small track so who knows what'll happen. Dunno til ya try.

I like that spirit, but there are others who have already done quarter mile runs. Check out dragtimes.com for both RX-8 and 300C 5.7L. You'll see that the stock 300C time spread is a notch or two faster than the RX-8 spread and the trap speed for 300C is markedly higher for similar times.

I don't think it takes much skill to drag an automatic 300C and the RX-8 is not that easy for a novice to launch correctly.

I'd save the effort.

I've got one of those 300's in addition to my shinka....include a few turns in the race and you'll wax him. The 300 in just a fast land barge. Big soft mushy car. Just throw 1 curve in there and you have him.

it's hard to gauge whether the question was an informed one. it seems pretty obvious to me.

even in a one mile race with one u-turn at the half point, you'll loose.

my int-x + greddy turbo can barely walk away from those big trucks with 'daytona' sticker on the side. there's no way you'll beat it with the stock renesis.

as far as the regular non-hemi, you'll be ok (i think). but with hemi, my money's not on the rx8. take it to an autox, and that'll be a diff. story... but i take it that's not what you're asking
