as for looks, well everyone has already agreed that they are always going to be subjective, but the fact still is that most people flock to the 8 before they do so much as glance at an EVO, STi or SRT. As a guy who deals with art and design regularly (as i'm sure anyone else here that is artistically inclined can agree), it's clear why the RX-8 attracts more attention. Like Shamblerock said, it was built from the ground up as a sports car, so there were concept designers slaving over their work trying to make the car look fast, aggressive, sleek or whatever they had in mind. There's a certain stance a sports car usually has. It leans forward, has aggressive headlights, cuts through the road with its low profile, etc etc. The EVOs and STis don't have that look. You have hints of it, but nothing like a sports car that was originally designed as a sports car. Look at the SRT... it has round lights... that's its face... how can that look aggressive? I could go on like this about the STi or EVO but you get the point. HOWEVER, as Ike said, it does look like a sleeper. It instills no fear in people, because they look like a toy a teenager's dad payed for... then those Vette owners get a good run for their money!
but Ike, think about this. Lamborghini and Ferrari wouldn't be what they are today if everything they did to their cars was under the hood.

Also, Lamborghini was about to go under before Audi saved them so I don't know if they should be used as an example of; look at what they've done.

so you don't think this looks aggressive? are you sure? :p
also, fine, we can ignore Lamborghini, but think of Ferrari then. They don't design their cars to look like crap but go fast. They try to have them look awesome and go fast. But when they geat beaten by STis, they can always say "**** you, i own a Ferrari" lol. Then they go home to a huge house and a super-model for a wife which they're not happy with so they have another one on the side. :D

Look, if they spent a lot of money on design and extra little features like Nav and sunroofs in the STi and Evo they wouldn't be such incredible performance bargains and you wouldn't even be able to consider such a great performance car for what you have to spend Raj. If the RX-8 has FI and 300hp you would be in the same boat, looking at the SRT-4 and not have many options other than that.

Ike, you have more time on your hands than anyone I know! For a guy who doesn't have an RX-8 and has over 3,000 posts here, I would have to say that you must absolutely love the 8 with or without FI. Not to mention the other car club sites you also belong to and probably post a whole lot more over there as well. Obviously you have nothing else going on in your life than to play with your car and surf car forums.
It seems like every couple of threads you are associated with, someone is having it out with you! Is that a reflection of your character ?
Anyway, I am not going to bother respoding to the various points below because I do have a life outside of spending every last minute I have arguing with people like you on car forums.
Please, don't try to school me on what cars are all about. I've been around a long time and don't find you add any useful information whatsoever to improve my knowledge. You try to talk like an engineer but you fall far short of convincing anyone.
Get a life man. There's more to life than spending every available free minute discussing your blown econo-box sedan and getting into arguments on car forums. Like your opinion on the SRT-4 and STI is out of balance and leans far too much to pure performance numbers, you ignore everything else about cars. No doubt, you are the same way in life, and it shows. And by the way, that is not a good thing!

There is nothing wrong with only being concerned with performance number either. If I had the money, I would rather have two cars which are excellent at their design purpose than one car that is mediocre to good at everything (rx-8). One of those obviously being for luxury and capacity, the other for ***** to the wall performance. Different strokes.
Oh yeah, I don't have an 8 either, but I belong to these boards. Is that okay? maybe I don't have a life either.

Anyway, don't bring about how much ike posts or what other boards ike is associated with. Take into context what he brings here in the specific thread you're involved in. He is a masterdebater and most of the stuff we're talking about is opinion. It's like tv, if you can't take it, just change the channel or turn it off.

BlueEyes, i'm with you: If i had the money, there's no doubt in my mind that i'd get an 8 and a performance car like the EVO or the STi.
A few more hours before my test drive!

ooooo masterdebator
I wish I had an 8. I thought about getting one long and hard, but, I chose the convinience of rolling out of bed into the class room instead of commuting. I could lease 2 8's with the rent I have to pay and the pay the insurance with the utilities. Oh well, couple more years.

Everyone loves the performance of the SRT-4 but all of you get pissed when people have opinions about its looks being ugly, then it just being a neon. Pull out the damn engine and body kit and it's just a DAMN Neon! IT stirs up emotions about such as the EVO and STI because their FAST, most def not because of their looks. You all can argue back in forth but don't knock people because of their opinions.

Dude, you just have to come to my superbowl party. We set up a little ring and have Boxing round robin. it's awesome, full gear. Last year I got my nose broken, Still won though. The sudden pain of the broken nose caused me to throw the biggest haymaker in mankinds history knocking out my freind!
It's all good though, other than some black eyes and broken noses, it's a ton of fun. Win real cash too!

You da man, Blue Eyes! A real hero! A tough guy. Man are your responses ever cllever. I don't think Ike needs you to run to his defensive. He has shown time and time again that he is capable of holding his own. You have you're opinions and I have mine. BTW, I guess your old enough to know its not polite to call people names!
Ike and I have had our disagreements in the past and will have them again in the future. Just because I disagree with him doesn't mean I have anything against him. He has his opinion and I have mine. IHe has his way of debating and I have mine. We are not arguing about specs/fact but rather subjective subjects like appearance, value, looks etc... which will always create debates and depending on the level of passion thrown into the mix, the debate turns into arguments, like this one.
So if you don't like what I post, don't read them. Your choice, tough guy.

After re-reading my post I can see how you could have viewed it being insulting. So I apologize to Ike for going overboard. But to the same token, I thought he was pretty aggressive and selective in what he responded to so I was not about to write a book in response. But note, I never called him names.
As you will also note from a few previous posts of mine here, I openly admitted that I respected his opinion, which was not an easy thing to do. But I do think he takes great time and effort to respond to posts and he deserves credit for that. In the heat of the moment and when passion gets in the way, people say things they shouldn't. I demonstarted that clearly. But at the end of the day, if you throw stones at others, you should expect stones to be thrown back, regardless the size of the stones going either way. That is just human nature.

I'm not talking like an engineer, just like someone who loves cars and knows a little about them. You say I add nothing useful, yet the last post you said quite the opposite. Forget to take you medication today or something?
I don't ignore everything but pure performance, if you paid attention to my posts you would realize that. Also, assuming how I am in life because I like and respect pure performance cars is assanine.
