RX8 is much more fun to drive overall. Perfect pedal placement, great brakes, divine chassis tuning.
For me, if comfort and good gas mileage are your "thing" then get the Accord. If you're a hard core driving enthusiast who loves to wring the car out, even if only ocassionally (and gas mileage doesn't bother you), get the RX8. The RX8 is a truly fantastic car.

If you're finding yourself trying to compare the two cars..the Accord is probably right for you. *snore*

For looks and handling, go for RX-8.
For reliability and comfort, go for Accord coupe.
I personally wouldn't get a car with little torque, and since I don't have the driving skill to keep the engine to rev in the high rpm, a regular V6 would be way more practical for me. As far as the popularity thing.....hehe I like to see my car everywhere, don't like to be special. The first car I drove is 95 Accord V6 sedan and I miss it.....

I am currently driving an 98 Accord EX V6 AT. VERY nice car, getting kinda old (approaching 90k miles) and kinda boring..
dont get me wrong. My car can kick a lot of other cars' a$$es. The kickdown is cool and pushes you back into your seat. Engine (in the AT) revs up all the way to 6500 or so before it considers shifting.
I had an 86 RX7 before that.. loved the way it sounded, loved the way it handled. felt like a damn badass anytime I drove it. Maintenance did get too expensive (things started falling apart and the one used car RX7 repairdude in ATL - he was 1 guy focusing on RX7 repairs - started seeing me every 2 weeks). Kinda sucked as he was on the other side of town, which was a major problem if my car had broke down.. ;0 Definitely needed that AAA plus sticker ;0 They ended up sending me a letter that I overused the number of free towings and would have to pay 25 for each additional one. Kinda made me start thinking that I needed to get a newer car.
Have been having the Accord since '01, certified used car warranty.. already had a transmission replaced (wonder why :-) ) and other things repaired. Total amount of repairs probably equal about 8 grand.. all covered by the warranty.. roadside assistance etc.. free towing etc..
what i am trying to say.. absolutely safe and cool ride with the Accord.
but sh*t.. I NEED A DAMN M/T and a CAR THAT EXCITES ME AGAIN!
ugh, where were we?

and not trying to go off on a rant or whatever. but there really dont seem to be a lot of cool cars out there at this point in time in the 28-38k range. The RX8 is one. My sister in law drives an Infinity G35, hate her for that.. dont like the rear of the car anyway tho. Friend of mine drives an BMW 330CI convertible. NICE sound, too quick for her
Just let me win in the lottery and Ill buy a damn 2005 M5. ;0

S2000
WRX STi
Lancer Evo
John Cooper Works Mini Cooper S
Lotus Elise
350Z/G35
The ones you mentioned
Seems like a pretty good list to me, although I will grant you that most 4 door sedans don't do anything for me from the "cool" perspective. Other than the RX8 of course!

ye, but the problem is... everybody has them.. granted I was tempted to buy an WRX back in 01, but didnt, since the car really seemed to be too small. Which actually brings me to the question: how big is the RX8 compared to other cars, e.g. civic etc. ?

Hopefully everybody will have RX8's eventually too :-). The WRX is kind of small but I'm not sure it's much smaller than the RX8, at least in interior dimensions. It's probably better in some and worse in others. I would imagine the rear seat room in the WRX would be a little better but probably not by more than a couple of inches.
