This is the first I have ever heard of a Disel Engine Dragster. The article seems kinda of old but its still real cool. A turbo disel runing in the low 8's. I would love to see this in person. I hope this isnt a repost.

That is insane! I had no idea dragsters have been using disels. I always though they used the standard piston engines.

Banks has a diesel prostock drag truck that should run in the 7's.

They've also got one for roadracing:

How about Bonneville:

Of course we can't forget about the overall diesel land speed record holder:

By the way what is interesting about the JCB Dieselmax is that is has a very low compression ratio of only 10 (for a diesel engine). The engine functions almost more like a gasturbine with a piston in the combustion chamber.
The compression ratio is so low that this engine won't even start without preheating it.

I remember I watched a show on Discovery Channel about wild machines, they have this semi truck with a Detroit Diesel in-line 6 triple-turbo, propane injection, a bunch of other stuff I can't remember, and made over 1000-rwhp and 1500 ft-lbs of torque.
I also saw a show on SPEED with the owner of Banks and they have a twin turbo kit for the Dodge Cummins diesel that bolts on and does 650ish rwhp and over 900 ft-lbs of torque out-of-the-box! Insane!
