Wouldnt this just be vicious?

Mmm I do have a Lotus in my driveway AND a RX-8.

Trade the 190HP Toyota back into the RX8

Love to see such a car become a reality. Have you tried suggesting it to Lotus? It might just happen.

I think your weight distribution would get messed up with a renesis, you best stick with a 20b instead

The lighter weight of the Renesis would make for a lighter and more balanced car (rear-mid engine). It would have spectacular handling...

I believe there is a thread already like this from a while ago. I remember most saying the gains simply would not be worth it. The weight savings would be negligible, if a 4 cylinder even weighs more than the renesis. The only advantage i see is that it's a rotary, for all you rotary lovers, and that a rotaries torque curve is fairly long, longer than a 4 cylinders, which attributes to its "smoothness"

Yeah, the RX8 and Elise actually put pretty much the same amount of power down. Wait for the 16X.

the elise doenst make power till 6250 when the high speed cams come on, so 5500 to 9k it would have a better power curve. Would be an interesting project none the less.

I always wondered why Lotus didnt go for the rotory motor in the elise. Is it becasue the toyota motor is more realiable?

There is no way to say it is more reliable.

13b from RX7 i'd think would be too much. Low torque huge power curve is what makes this such a pleasure.

I am starting to think im the only one who doesnt like burning tires and massive power :D

The world would implode at the sheer amount of awesomeness that would emit from the engine bay.

haha I know seriously, I cant imagine it.

9.7k rb reflash and all. Such a usuable car.

the rx8 motor would be making a lot more power than the celica gts motor, would be somewhere around a lotus exige s, just less torque.

About 180 to the wheels on both. The Elise's engine has a lot short trip to it's drive wheels. Maybe that'd help the Renesis too if you mounted it back there, but probably not by enough to make it worth it.

Why bother with the mod? Get the Exige S240. Same weight as the Elise and it has 240hp supercharged.

Like this one?

OK so it's a Europa.

About 25 years ago a freind of mine bought a Europa with the twin cam BDA 1600. Cam belt broke and it destroyed the motor. We stuffed a 2.7 German Ford motor in it from a Euro Capri.
