Renesis + Lotus Elise/Exige = HEAVEN?

Now how amazing would it be if Lotus stuck a Renesis in the Elise/Exige instead of that Toyota powerplant? The cars would be lighter, faster, smoother, and rev higher. All pluses. The only downsides would be fuel economy and probably a jump in price. But in such a light car as these the renesis will have no trouble turning out respectable MPG numbers, but most of the owners won't care. And I'm sure the pluses will significantly outweigh the price.

That would be pretty sweet. I've already decided that eventually I'll own an Elise. Wouldn't it be that much better if it was touting a Renesis as well!

Just about 1 mile from me is this place called DC Motors. They've got a blood red Exige with black wheels and a black spoiler sitting out there everyday along with the usual Gallardos and F430s. But that Exige just gets my eye everytime, but then I think of how much better a Honda powerplant or a Renesis would be in that car.

Here she is (grab your drool rags): http://www.dontdrivejunk.com/details...1-2l1151006793

Jeremy Clarkson fit into the Exige. And he's 6' 5'' I think.

This has been discussed quite a bit of the forum... The 2ZZ weighs less than the Renesis, and the elise only dynos about 10whp less than a RX-8, gets better gas mileage, and will probably be more reliable. Seems to me Lotus made the right choice.

The rotary could give it a better CoG. And it'd sound cooler .

I wish Toyota would make a new version of the MR2 that matches the Elise' power to weight ratio and performance and sell it at 27k starting price. thatd be pretty hot.

Figures you would. I don't give a ***** that you don't care for the renesis, but stop speading ****. The 2zz weighs less? Got facts? I suspect you'll be wrong about this like you were on the S2000 engine weight in another post. Without getting in 8 dyno issues, they usually dyno in the 180's vs. 160's for the lotus, but fine, you count 10. And can you back up your statement that the renesis is less reliable?

Other clear renesis advantages; smaller dimensions that would allow it to be placed lower in the car, higher rev capability, more linier powerband, smoother...

But yeah, the 2zz is more fuel efficient, like an elise owner really gives a ****.

The best I can do is 115kg for the 2zz and 120kg for the Renesis (both dry).

I thought the Renesis makes at least 20 horses than the stock engine in the Elise or the Exige. But I don't know much about these things. The Manufacturer's hp rating for the Elise/Exige engine is 190hp I believe (maybe 200) and the rating for the Renesis is 232hp. I now that's probably crank hp but still.

The Lotus needs a proper British Cosworth in it. Not a bloody Japanese engine.

Cheers!

Has anyone else noticed that everytime Ike disagrees with someone in a calm and collect manner and backs his statements up with facts, the other person turns into a giant jackass and starts throwing a temper tantrum?

Sorry Ike, they just seem to be attracted to you.
