You should do it! I bet the RX-8 would be a pretty good rallyx car. I just don't think anyone on this site has been man enough to try it yet. The FC was a pretty popular Rallyx/Rally car for a while.

I was actually thinking of starting out with the Protege first to get comfortable with it. I don't think I'm brave enough to subject the RX-8 to gravel yet.

Depends on the course, some of them are nice soft clay (think baseball diamond) that won't do much but get your car dirty. Just be sure to check out the local course before hand. Maybe spectate an event before taking the leap.
