Yeh, im going with the wire wheel drill methode, I dont like to play with acid in the garage. When I get to production a sand blast room will be in order, done in an hour.

Ratchet Shifter? Motorcycle Style?

Moon Assad 12-18-2008 10:25 PM

Yeh, directly to the linkage. I cant put the clutch on my left foot. Funny, my liscense says automatic restriction but it still has my motorcycle liscense, go figure. :)

warwickben 12-19-2008 05:03 AM

automatic restriction? does that mean your state can tell you cant drive stick i never heard that. nail polish remove is stronger worse for you, then type of acid i was talking about. man i wanna see the motor lol what are you thinking of useing?

i was thinking of making a smallcar/big go cart with a saches(sp?) 303cc rotary motor as used on snowmobiles in the 70's. there p port stock lol.

Nope, right now its down FL.
But once Moon is finished with the cage, steering and suspensions hes bringing up to me so I can build the body for it....
Ohh btw Jon have you heard about the new Pettit upgrade???
And when Moon brings it up he could probably do an install if your still interested in the SC kit...

Its to soon to call when the production model is going to be available. Weve already changed our mind and will be going with 1 3/4" tubing, havent decided wether to go with steel or cromoly yet but I think #2 is gona be steel. Im looking at having the one you see on the road buy the end of jan. so stay tuned.

No, it meens since I had a spinal cord injury and my left foot dosnt work the way it should that restricts me to driving only automatics. It goes the same for hand controls. But I made a big stink about them trying to pull my motorcycle license since they can be addapted like I did on my quad. Ive also seen cool stuff like a set of trainind wheels called out riggers for the guys that cant hold the bike up at a stop. They drop down buy the press of a button.

warwickben 12-19-2008 02:33 PM

i saw a guy that cant feel anything below his chest riding a bike with a setup you mentioned on superbike(i think thats the name of the show lol). sorry to hear about you spinal cord injury. i forget how my uncle did it but in his car he had a clutch on the the shifter to bad some thing like that isn't common. i forget why since i was so little.

any chance you guys can post close up pics of the welds from some of the pics they look cold. iam a welder by trade mite be able to give you pointers. dont mean to sound like a ass hat.

shinka213 12-19-2008 04:42 PM

I was playing around with the welder for a few of those ( got bored), Franks gona touch up the ones that you see in the front rite? See, just about everything on frame #1 is going to go to #2 wich is the big boy 1 3/4 thin wall and what you see as a prototype is getting scrapped or sold when all the parts I need to mock up are finished. Might stress test the frame as is to see were the weak points are also with the 1". As we were building it and tacking the tubing in we would tweak each section to se if there was any flex points, if we found one we would figure out how to compensate and add what was needed.

pdxhak 12-22-2008 09:39 PM

That is a really tight fit!

Moon Assad 12-22-2008 09:42 PM

If I can get in and out of it, well, no excuses. I finaly dont have to stand on the seats anymore either.

Moon Assad 12-22-2008 10:13 PM

Another plan is instead of 1 3/4" steel we might go with 1 3/4" chromoly. Gona price it out and see if its worth the extra cost.

ohh snap , I-I mean ohh spring, transversly mounted that is...

Moon Assad 12-24-2008 03:32 PM

Yeh, I thought they were gona be heavy but they only wheigh in at 1.5 pounds each. There over kill strong so im sure there not gona break. I was thinking of doing them in another alloy but its awsome as is. The idea is making the shock adjustible fast. So if you plan on having a copilot you can stiffen the other side in less then a minute. So if he scales in at 200+ pounds you dont have a listing problem :) You can also set it up if your the only one in it lets say at the track.

Moon Assad 12-24-2008 03:37 PM

So, thats 556 LB withought nuts and bolts, dam.

olddragger 12-25-2008 04:30 PM

moon--you gonna have one hot ride there--kinda reminds me of that rail type dune buggy i had.One hint--put as much padding in the seat as you can get--then add some more!
looks really sweet---good fabbing.
you free handing this thing?
if so daymmmnnn dude>
what kinda floor?
OD

warwickben 12-26-2008 07:04 AM

http://www.robotmarketplace.com/prod...ND0201108.html

or heck this .
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/prod...-T1221132.html

the cost would kill you tho.

Rotr8 12-26-2008 11:02 AM

Im thinkin alot of the flat surfaces or structural support can be handle though DragonPlate... I think Moon and I could even get an Army discount...

Moon Assad 12-26-2008 11:18 AM

For this one atleast I have 3/4 alm hunnycom plate with fiber reinforced panle on each side. It dosnt weigh anything, I have enough to cover the floor and the backing behing the seats. Its only 2 or 3 pounds for enough to do the job. Light stuff. Ill throw up a few pics of it later.
