Porsche spec is 1.6 quarts per 622 miles (for the 997 M96 motor)

I'd still like to know where the OP got the oil consumption info from. Not that I don't believe it, I'd just like to read up on it.

I honestly don't get why spending 10 dollars every couple months on motor oil is even on anyone's radar screen for things to give half a sh#t about. As long as the oil loss is intentional, (not due to engine problems) then there is no worry. I plan on spending 20 dollars tonight on a dinner that's way nicer than what I actually need..so, why would I care about 5 bucks a month to upkeep a sports car?

I've often wondered why people will complain about an $8 bottle of synthetic oil compared to a $4 bottle of conventional when it comes to not being worth it. Let's say in 3000 miles you went through 7 quarts. That's $56 vs $28 which is a $28 difference in oil. Then these same people instead of filling up with regular 87 octane fuel at $2.45 a gallon will fill up with 92 octane at $2.75. If you average 20 mpg, over that 3000 miles that's a difference of $45 in gasoline. Heck even going to 89 octane as opposed to 87 would roughly break even with the difference in oil prices. The difference of course is that oil is responsible for increasing the life of the engine. Gasoline tries to kill it and is the single dirtiest element entering the engine. Some people are willing to spend more to kill their engines than they are to protect it based on financial reasons. Go figure.
