Pics of my other sportscar (Jaguar E type)?

I'd like to share some pics of my other sportscar, a Jaguar E type which has been in our family since about 1986 (when I was in high school). It was given to me in sad circumstances as my father passed away earlier this year. This car was one of three e types that my father had in his collection. The other two went to my older brother and sister.

It's a fun car to drive (but so different than the RX-8) and I think it is beautiful but it has been quite a handful to keep running. I've already replaced the alternator and starter and I still have some electrical gremlins to sort out (good 'ole Lucas). Fortunately, there is an awesome internet support group to help me keep it running.

And of course, I still have the RX-8 to enjoy

Thanks. It's actually not quite as nice in person. I'd describe it as a scruffy driveable car.

I've had it less than a year. It had already gone through some restoration (new paint at least) before my father bought it back in '86.

It could use some things restored again since it is so old. A lot of the seals and rubber bit in the suspension (ball joints, etc.) need to be replaced.

I plan to do a bit of rolling restoration but I'll never restore it to a really high standard since I want to keep driving it and the car isn't worth all that much so it is hard to justify dumping too much money into it.

It does sound nice. The Jag enthusiasts refer to it as Williams Lyons Symphony No. 6. The radio in the car doesn't work but I've never missed it.

That is one beautiful car. I’m sure it is a handful to keep running though. What a great way to remember your dad. It must make you smile every time you take a ride.

Definitely a handful and I am not much of a mechanic although I find myself becoming better as everything on the car breaks. Working on the Jag has also giving me more confidence to fix broken things on my Mazda.

It is a great way to remember my dad although me and my brother are the only ones in the family that really care about the cars. My mom and my wife are Jag haters these days.

Sad part is that I really wish my father could have shared his Jaguar hobby more when he was alive. I never really got into collecting Jags because I like sporty cars with manual transmissions and Jag really didn't make modern cars like that and I never imagined that I'd be owning an E type someday. He gave me this car in part because it has a nice modern 5 speed syncro gearbox and it is also a coupe which I always joked with him that I would like to turn it into a track car or racecar someday. Although I don't think I'll ever do that and I've dropped the track hobby/addiction to put money into the car restoration.

I didn't even realize when I posted my comment, we are practically neighbors. I live in Highland Park and drive through Lake Forest twice a day (usually take Sheridan by the college). Let me know if you ever need help with the Jag, it would bring me back to when I would help my uncle with his ’64 356.

Ahh yes E-Types. Still one of the most beautiful sports cars ever in my opinion.
