Mazda has fallen 3 laps behind the next place P2 Porsche. Remember that car was 7 laps down behind Mazda 2 hours ago!

Ok I understand well enough to enjoy the rest of the race.

The Mazda commercial they showed was actually good! (Minus the zoom zoom song) The 8 was in it plenty!

And sucks for the M3 that's sitting on the side of the track..."it's snowing here..." hahaha poor guy.

I love diesel technology which is a bit weird since I love high revving rotaries too. I'm not really a fan of the old loud dirty american diesel engines that everyone thinks about when they hear the word diesel but I do like the new diesel engines that are coming out. That technology is really advancing at a great pace.

That whole sounds of Speed segment made me want to hop in my car and max it out on the track!

It must be such an adrenaline rush to drive those things.

Within the next hour assiming that there are no more incidents, the overall class placements would be exactly as you would expect them to be which is unusual. All LMP1 cars will be together in front of all of the LMP2 cars which are all together in front of all of the GT1 cars which are in front of all of the GT2 cars. There is one exception to that though and that is the Mazda. It just isn't fast enough to follow this trend. It will be farther back by 4 places and will be the sole dividing line between the GT1 and GT2 categories in regards to race placement.

RG once some McDonalds chain owner realizes he can make BioDiesel from his used cooking oil and sell it, I think Diesels will be one of the most popular engines period in America. Sadly as you stated alot of people still have in their head the dirty loud sounding diesels of ages past. Even though some Ford Engines run the Powerstroke Diesel the general public views them as dirty. I think that was part of Audi's reasoning to making thier R10(its 10 right? ><!) Diesel powered.

5h 37min's to go.
BtW RG what kinda engine plant it the Mazda using it's not a Rotary (is it?!)?

Mazda is now down 7 laps to the next P2 car which is a Porsche and they are a total of 18 laps off of the race leader.

They connect an air hose to the car and a compressor set around 200 psi in the pits is what lifts it.

Dang part of me was hoping it would be some kinda experimental piston motor not a rotary (unless it was kicking *** and taking names). Hopefully at Laguna the planned announcement is a newer model to make it go faster (even the announcer said he hopes that is it!).

Like they said on the program, "Mazda has mastered the sound of the car, not the speed." Sounds like Mazda will be debuting a new car soon. They need to get some 4 rotor action going

I forgot to mention that the lead Audi R10 has some louver damage on the left front fender. The louver is what lets air out of the wheel wells. Apparently the velocity of the "marbles" which are the pieces are rubber that fly off of the soft tires has broken through a couple of them. There were a few flapping in the wind from what I can see from the in car camera but it appears that a coupld have come off completely and there is only one left hanging. It hasn't affected their times at all though.

Mazda is in trouble! I don't know why but they've been in the pits for a long time now.

They are back out on the track now after more than 20 minutes in the pits for whatever reason. They are now running 23rd out of 24 remaining cars. 28 cars started the race and 5 are out. Now the math may not seem to add up but one of the P1 cars was very far ahead of Mazda when they had mechanical issues so Mazda needs to go at least another 5 laps until they pass that car. This isn't looking very good.
